‘Krrish’, the much-awaited flick is finally out in theaters. Roshans were looking pretty confident about the success of this sequel to ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and why not to be confident since success too has arrived with the release of the film. ‘Krrish’ is not only a treat to kids but equally enticing for the adults of every age group. And of course a big gift for Hrithik Roshan’s fans. Rakesh Roshan, the creative head behind this venture, maintains his lucrative track records of getting success with the presentation of quality stuff to watch on screen. ‘Krrish’ has full potential to ignite the box office like ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ did earlier.
For the very first time, this ilk of subject, where a hero is a superman wearing a mask on face, has been introduced in Bollywood. Hindi cinema is now really going towards inventing and experimenting new themes to allure the audiences rather than treading with the age-old time and tested formulas. It’s good since Bollywood today is the only industry in the world that has competition with world’s largest entertainment industry Hollywood.
The cinegoers’ expectations were already very high before stepping in to the auditorium since the father-son combo has always given mega hits. Just let your memory walk on the past lanes, you will remember the blockbusters – ‘Kaho Naa Payaar Hai’ and then ‘Koi Mil Gaya’.
Hrithik Roshan in a role of superman swathed with super powers and sturdy personality looks aptly fit. And to make him look perfect is none other than the talented-dexterous filmmaker father – Rakesh Roshan. Making a film on this subject with a hero being superman is not an easy task to accomplish. To do this, an experienced mind with a grip over the art is required and that Rakesh Roshan has in abundance. The film works on each and every department – the theme is novel, the characterization is immaculate and the music is hummable. Rakesh Roshan and his team do not leave any stone unturned to make this flick a special treat in every aspect. Rakesh Roshan truly depicts in this film that he is that filmmaker who has courage to take steps with the change of time and his film utterly reveals it all.
Although it looks like a Hollywoodish scientific movie but this outing is draped with Indian values as well like any Bollywood flick carries – emotions and relationships and all that. Thus the viewer enjoys every ingredient on this specially cooked dish.
Krishna (Hrithik Roshan) is born with the magic super powers inherited from his father Rohit Mehra (Koi Mil Gaya’s Hrithik). He is sheathed with the extraordinary strength, speed and intelligence. He loves nature a lot – the calmness and the beauty of mountains and the surrounding place where he lives attract him hugely. Priya (Priyanka Chopra) is a ravishing girl from Singapore. She has come to Krrish’s place for camping and trekking. Krrish meets her and starts loving her. He is heart-broken when Priya leaves for Singapore.
His grandmother, Sonia (Rekha) sees his condition that he is feeling very lonely after her, asks him to go to Singapore and woo the girl to take her back. In Singapore, he comes across the megalomaniac scientist, Dr. Siddhant Arya (Naseeruddin Shah), who has destructive dreams to ruin every thing. And only one man can fight him to stop him and he is none other than Krrish.
Then there emerges good versus evil that is executed with aplomb and stylish manner. The special effects used on the sequences between Krrish and Dr. Siddhant’s clash get you bound to carry them home to memorize again.
The first half of the film isn’t much inspiring since it appears to be a routine Hindi film saga but once the film gets into the second half it gathers momentum where you get to see Hrithik in Singapore. The scenes in circus where he saves people and his clash with the wicked scientist are the ones add spices to the film. The flashback reels allure the most.
The script is called the pillar of every film and here in this case this pillar is very strong to lift the whole film on. The team of writers - Sachin Bhowmick, Honey Irani, Robin Bhatt, Akash Khurana and Rakesh Roshan himself really has worked wonders and they all have put their minds together to bring an innovative story to make a film on.
The music is soothing like Rakesh Roshans’ every film has along. Rajesh Roshan has scored mellifluous composition to hum it around. Tony Ching Siu Tung from Hong Kong and Sham Kaushal both have dolled up the action with finesse. The special effects by Marc Kolbe (USA) and Craig Mumma (USA) deserve huge marks. Cinematography by Santosh Thundiyil is eye pleasing and first rate. Famous duo of Salim-Sulaiman arranges a fantastic background score.
‘Krrish’ is totally a film of Hrithik Roshan. He carries the whole movie on his shoulders. A true fit for this character, he will fetch all the awards from the awards’ function of this year like he bagged earlier in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. He is amongst those few genius actors, Bollywood is known in the world. Priyanka Chopra acts well but since there is Hrithik everywhere others look to take back seats. He is simply marvelous in this role. Rekha attracts a lot. The veteran Naseeruddin Shah is fabulous in his villainous character. Preity Zinta in a guest appearance seems great. Rest of the cast too enacts the jobs well.
On the whole, ‘Krrish’ is the mega hit of this year and from today onwards will be giving mammoth business from the box office collections to Rakesh Roshan. The whole team should now start preparing to receive awards.
