The dexterous filmmaker Priyadarshan is a name that has created a special trustworthy place in the industry. Today he is called Comedy King. His movies are what every cinegoers and the people of the entertainment world await anxiously. He is the filmmaker with whom every star today wants to be associated with. And how does this ilk of success come one’s way? Obviously with the determination to do something exceptional, intelligence to use in an apt manner, skills to apply correctly and the knowledge of the art. Priyadarshan carries all these goods on his shoulders, which is why this status is with him.

His latest to hit the screens is UTV Motion Pictures’ Chup Chup Ke. And yes, this outing like his previous ventures rides on the same path of laughs. A comic enterprise, ‘Chup Chup Ke’ stars the real talents of the industry from Priyan’s favorite Paresh Rawal to Shahid Kapur, Kareena Kapoor to Neha Dhupia, Rajpal Yadav, Anupam Kher to Om Puri in the lead. It is swathed not only with the comedy but also with the emotional drama. So Priyan doesn’t want his audiences to put their minds aside to please only with the comedy instead he also likes them to use the minds to enjoy with the real human emotions. No doubt in saying that he has handled both the departments – comedy and emotional drama with such aplomb. A full fun-ride to stay with from the beginning to the end, the film grips the moviegoers appositely.

A small town boy, Jeetu (Shahid Kapur) is under debts and moneylenders. Due to his instability in career and debts, his father (Anupam Kher, a retired school teacher) suffers a lot. There is one more person, who suffers too. She is Pooja (Sushma Reddy), her fiancée. Her father (Manoj Joshi) does not consider Jeetu a fit match for his daughter and asks Pooja to tie the knot with someone else but she doesn’t want to leave Jeetu. This all leads Jeetu to commit suicide and he jumps in the sea so that his family can then claim for the insurance and pays off his debts. But destiny saves him and two fishermen – Gundya (Paresh Rawal) and Bandya (Rajpal Yadav) find him entwined in fishing nets. He is now in a new place – Kolkata.

Gundya is indebted to Prabhat Singh (Om Puri). Prabhat is an astute Gujrati businessman. Gundya and Bandya find a note in Jeetu’s pocket that helps them wrongly assume as if he is a millionaire. In exchange of money Gundya owes to Prabhat, he takes Jeetu and Bandya to Prabhat’s home. In the midst of all happenings, Jeetu pretends to be mute and deaf. Interestingly, Prabhat’s niece Shruti (Kareena Kapoor) also appears to be mute but she is not deaf. Mangal (Suniel Shetty), her over protective elder brother, fixes her marriage to a good businessman in Gujrat. One night, Jeetu’s secret is unveiled when Shruti and her cousin Meenakashi (Neha Dhupia) find him singing songs. Now they both put a condition on Jeetu that they can keep his secret if only he does something to get the greedy bridegroom cancel this marriage to Shruti. To do this, he has to pretend to become Shruti’s lover. Mangal knows that his sister and Jeetu are in love with each other, he coerces Jeetu to get married to Shruti. But all of a sudden complications ooze out in between. Jeetu’s family comes to know the fact that he is alive and not dead so they now want him back. Jeetu is now under snags as to what he should do since he is in between Shruti and Pooja.

Priyadarshan is a classy storyteller. His grip on the art reveals from every sequence of the film and not only in this picture but also from all of his previous works. He spreads huge smiles and laughter on your face. Making people sad is an easy thing to do but making people laugh is the toughest task to accomplish. And that he has done with conviction.

The first half of the movie is utterly hilarious and you love to enjoy the comedy of Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal, Shahid Kapur and Om Puri. But the very talented Rajpal Yadav (who never ever disappoints the audience in every film where he works whether for a brief role or for the prominent characters. He always cheers his audience with his very own innocent style of comedy. And that’s his trademark, which is adorable) impresses you a lot amongst others. The second half of the movie talks about the emotional drama and revolves around relationships.

The script by Priyadarshan himself is fabulous. The subject is fantastic. It really gets the viewers glued to the seats till the finale. As a director, he has executed the job brilliantly. ‘Chup Chup Ke’ is amongst his excellent works, he has done so far. Music department is melodious. Since Himesh Reshammiya is behind, people are bound to listen it. Cinematography by Thiru is catchy. Dialogues penned by Neeraj Vora are impressive.

Talking about the performers, Shahid shows his acting histrionics aptly. The gorgeous Kareena Kapoor superbly plays the role and ceases the breath flow of the audiences with her magnificent acting. Rajpal Yadav is simply mind-blowing. Paresh Rawal is as usual first-rate. Om Puri is excellent. Suniel Shetty enacts well. The stunning Neha Dhupia looks beautiful not only in appearance but also in acting. Sizzling Sushma Reddy attracts as well. Anupam Kher and Shakti Kapoor do the justice with the characters also. The rest of the cast fills the bill.

In a nutshell, ‘Chup Chup Ke’ is an out-and-out entertainer and will ignite the box office by making record business like Priyadarshan’s previous hits.
