Comedy is today’s hot formula to chomp the movies on in Hindi cinema. Every second movie is a joy-ride filled with hilarious humor to enjoy with on present Bollywood scene. Trend is what Bollywood filmmakers follow widely. Once you set a trend and that succeeds, the others will begin to make their journeys on. Everyone wants to load the pocket with mammoth amount of money, which is why they go for what is IN currently? But do all and sundry succeed in following the set successful trends? Very frankly, “The answer is a lemon”. The reasons are: Luck does not support all and all are not equally talented to make the travel smooth.
This ongoing year has been pouring showers of comedies in theaters but the ones like ‘Malamaal Weekly’ and ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ are what ignited the screens and hit the audiences’ hearts with so much of pleasures. The tagline ‘Fun Unlimited’, ‘Golmaal’ carries, instantly sends chill through the body and lets the expectations have the feeling that the flick would be clad with abundant of humor to tickle the funny bones. Yes, the movie does fit to your expectations. But wait, if you are going to watch it with your mind’s wires open and to search logic in the content then you should stay at home.
Have a casual walk with this comic caper and enjoy the fun and humor this film offers you on screen, then you will be going with a satisfied soul to home.
This non-stop entertainer helps your joy quotient go higher with the jokes and funny lines. But it is the actors who get you glued to the screens.
Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi brilliantly do the job to allure the viewers.
Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Mahadev (Arshad Warsi) and Laxmi (Sharman Joshi) are the four lads who are bound together due to their child like infamy, petty business of hoodwinking people for fun and money. Amongst them, Gopal is the wisest and the wickedest. His motto in life is to eat, drink and be merry always. Laxmi is a sincere and God fearing guy whereas Mahadev and Lucky think that only idiots work and wise men use them in more ways than one to make their life comfortable.
Since they are notorious, this thing leads them to b thrown out of the college and now they have nowhere to go. They find a bungalow that is inhabited by an old, blind couple (Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Mukherjee), whose son, daughter-in-law and grandson are in America. They get Laxmi pretend to the blind couple that he is their grandson Sameer and then enter the house.
The story gets more interesting when all the four boys start loving one girl (Rimi Sen). Doesn’t it remind of many Bollywood comedies like the last year entertainer ‘Deewanye Hue Paagal’ where Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapur, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal are after one girl? They suddenly come to know that there is a treasure coffer. And due to this, they face the anger of a mobster who arrives at the bungalow to retrieve the diamonds, which are hidden in that treasure coffer.
The comic moments from start to end are fantastic and help you laugh with mouth wide open. The college professor (Manoj Joshi) writes laughs on your face with each and every scene of him. The sequences - like ‘When Laxmi pours poison in Gopal’s tea’ and ‘When Paresh Rawal tells his love story and you are taken to flashback with a black and white song’ and ‘When the four boys save the heroine getting raped’ – lift the spirits.
The script is healthy and Neeraj Vora deserves full marks for this since he has done a fine job by letting the director make a film with liberties. But the villain’s character (Anupam Shayam) and money lender’s role (Mukesh Tiwari) look forced into the narrative. In a nutshell, the script carries weight if looked at entertainment point of view.
Rohit Shetty has directed this venture with aplomb and made it a thorough entertaining fun-filled voyage. Neeraj Vora also impresses with the dialogues. The duo of Vishal-Shekhar attracts with the music department. Aseem Bajaj dons a brilliant cinematography.
Ajay Devgan is superb in the flick. He does a splendid job. Arshad is as usual classy in his comedy. He is an actor with vibrant energies. Tusshar in a character of mute looks apt. Sharman Joshi enacts the role with finesse. Paresh Rawal once again allures you in full. Sushmita Mukherjee attracts also. Rimi Sen looks gorgeous. Yes, she portrays good acting also.
Manoj Joshi is first-rate. Mukesh Tiwari falls flat. Rest of the cast is okay too.
In a capsule, Golmaal – Fun Unlimited is undoubtedly a complete entertainer.
A Must Watch. It does have a big scope at the box office.
Rating: 9/10
