The film has been in production for a long time, does that show?
Yes, it does show, and that is the only thing that does. I was hoping to see the silky curvaceous body of Shilpa Shetty, but instead I get to see something that I saw many times in the 1980s.
So you mean the star power of Salman Khan can’t save the film from sinking?
If Salman uses his muscles and body power, then he might just keep it adrift, but that is a far cry. No, this one destined to go where the Titanic did.
Tell me a little about the story, Salman and Shilpa are married?
Salman Khan plays a normal run-of-the-mill guy who falls in love with a high class rich model. Both of them get married and wish for a fantastic life. However, a cultural difference gets in between the two lovers, and leads to a major confrontation.
So it’s like Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte?
No, defiantly not. Just picture the TV serial Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki on the big screen, with a little comedy.
The direction?
You tell me. I have never seen anything directed so badly. It’s a little too old fashioned and not for the mature modern audience of today.
The songs?
Too many and too rubbish.
The acting?
Salman Khan thought he could create the same magic he does for Sooraj Barjatya. He is doing a duplicate of his roles of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and Hum Saath Saath Hain. But boy was he so wrong. So very very wrong. Shilpa Shetty is supposed to be playing the wicked bahu. She does do it well, and one does applaud her. In fact she is the best thing in this film.
Your final take on the film?
Save you money to watch Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, and wait for this until it comes on television, which will be very soon.
