Boney Kapoor August, 2005 has been a good month for Bollywood. Week after week audience returned to theatre and appreciated films. And what a way to end the month, Anees Bazmee’s ‘No Entry’ is a slapstick comedy which has got stupendous response from its viewers. A rip-roaring non-stop laughter ride ‘No Entry’ deals with male philandering on the lines of Inder Kumar’s ‘Masti’. The three cheating husbands in ‘No Entry’ are Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Fardeen Khan. ‘No Entry’ opens its doors to reveal the lives of three men; Kishen ‘the married man’ (Anil Kapoor), Sunny ‘the Bachelor’ (Salman Khan) and Prem ‘the married bachelor’ (Fardeen Khan). Ironically while the faithful Kishen has a very suspicious Kaajal as his wife playboy Prem has a trusting wife Pooja. And then there is Shekhar’s - to - be wife Sanjana who is a bit of both. ‘No Entry’ is the name of club where a sexy damsel Bobby (Bipasha Basu) works as a club dancer cum call girl. Prem is one of her many admirers. He decides it’s about time Kishen tastes the forbidden fruit. He introduces Kishen to Bobby. Prem tries to push Kishen towards extra-marital relation with Bobby, his reason; a guilt laden Kishen will love his wife even more. Prem promises Bobby money if she is able to seduce the guileless Kishen, which she does but as fate would have it Kaajal arrives on the scene. Kishen dupes Kaajal into believing that Bobby is Sunny’s wife. Sunny (who works for Kishen) tricks Sanjana into believing that Bobby is Kishen’s wife. The plot that unfolds is an old one. The treatment given is not unusual either. What works in No Entry’s favour is its cast. As we said earlier the plot of ‘No Entry’ isn’t novel. Anees Bazmee just dished out what’s working these days. He follows the David Dhawan’s school of direction to the ‘T’. But it’s the actors who excel who carry the weight of the movie of the movie on their shoulders to its climax. Anil Kapoor is a superb comedian. Those who have seen ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Biwi No. 1' and ‘Deewaana Mastana’ will vouch for this fact. Through ‘No Entry’ he has proven the fact that in Bollywood things don’t get any better than him. Salman Khan is a delight to watch in first half (he disappears after post-interval only to surface in pre-climax scene). Fardeen Khan though jaded in first half gets into groove in the second half. Especially in the scene where he decided to sacrifice his marriage to save his boss’s neck by declaring Bobby is his wife. Boman Irani is wasted in the insignificant role (his role was copped off at the editing table). Among the females Lara Duta gets the maximum meat. Celina is there merely for showcase. Her skin show in ‘Ishq Mein’ will set temperature scaling new heights. Esha Deol’s role is not greater than that of a guest appearance. Bipasha Basu’s damsel in distress act was spoiler. Sameera Reddy’s sequence was avoidable. The songs by Anu Malik are run of the mill stuff. Editing by Sanjay Sankla is first rate. Tough the movie is a tad slow in first half but post interval action and actors bring the house down. The dialogues were funny and witty. And yes, there weren’t many double entendres, which means the embarrassment factor was kept to a minimum. Our Advice: Do Not Miss Anything Post Interval! It only gets faster and wittier. Bottom Line: No Entry is our pick of this week. Anees Bazmee and Boney Kapoor have a winner in there hands. RS Rating: 7/10 Credit: This review was submitted by Ankit Jain of Footprints.in.
