Director: Ananth Narayan Mahadevan Actor turned director Anant Mahadevan who till now gave romantic flops (Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, Dil Maange More) will add one more flop of different genre (seduction, scandal and suspense) to his list with Aksar. Aksar stars serial kisser Emran Hashmi whose previous film Jawani Diwani film failed at big screen, Udita Goswami who has been absent form the scene till now and Dino Morea who has been trying desperately to get a hit with no such luck till date. With Aksar and many such films of the similar category, a different concept of filmmaking has come up. This new concept requires - a set of good-looking and overrated actors who’s kissing and showing off skills are better than acting, a dark twisted story with no beginning and no suitable ending whose sole motive is to show sleazy and useless mind games (you can guess what goes in their minds), the only thing which is given special importance is the music and the look (promotional strategy) of the film. All the above are ingredients are then mixed indifferently and presented to the viewers. If this is what Bollywood is dishing out then we are better off watching roadside circus. The storyline was said to be a thriller promising scandal, suspense and seduction that focuses on mind games between three people. Contrary to everything that is promised - watching Aksar was not a thrilling experience, there was no scandal to boast about, not a gripping suspense to chill your bones and only SEDUCTION in capital letters to talk about. And to say that it focuses on MIND games between three people, I would only add it focuses on the MINDLESS games between three people.
Ricky (Emraan Hashmi) a very wild fashion photographer who overdoes his bit of romance with the models. In his use and throw mood he ditches his current girlfriend Nisha (Tara Sharma) who is a friend of ace model Sheena (Udita Goswami). Poor heartbroken Nisha even contemplate attempting suicide. Sheena in bullish rage call Ricky asks him to meet her in a gym. She clash with Ricky over how dare he dump her best friend. Cut. Fast-forward. Its three years later. Sheena is married to a business tycoon Rajveer (Dino Morea). His horizons are extending with each passing days but currently he is suffering from a crisis. He has lost all his money. Sheena is someone who gets everything she desires when she wants it. She wants the best for herself. She is an unpredictable woman who speak nicely one minute and pour wrath another minute. They are an odd pair, they are living a contented life but devoid of any closeness. Cut. Another scene. Ricky profession is flourishing. He is about to hold an exhibition of his creations, when someone walks in and buys the entire lot even before the exhibition has begun. But he (Rajveer aka Raj) has a pre-condition that Ricky should make his wife (Sheena) fall in love with him (Ricky). Ricky fails to understand at first why a husband would want someone to have an affair with his wife. Perhaps Raj wants to get rid (divorce) of his wife that is why he is doing this. Ricky flies to London where Raj and Sheena live in a splendid mansion and starts playing his cards. Sheena detests the presence of Ricky at first, but the hatred transforms into love gradually. The plan seems to be working perfect. Raj catches Ricky and Sheena red-handed, but instead of regretting her decision, she hits back at Raj: If he can have extra-marital affairs, so can she. Raj is stunned. The wife blatantly cheats on her husband right in front of his eyes and he can’t do a thing about it. His whole plan is ruined. Realizing that Sheena wouldn’t divorce him, Raj turns to Ricky, tells him to pack his bags and return to India. But now Ricky is not ready to leave Udita, obviously he is having a time of his life. This leaves hubby in dilemma! Cut. So called twist in tale! Finally! Emraan get murdered and the whole murder sequence is captured by someone in a camera. Who is the suspect, most obviously ****. Emraan Hashmi is becoming intolerable and more repetitive with every passing movie. His tailor made ’serial kisser’ roles are going to ruin him one day. Dino Morea was supposed to look stiff-up-class aristocratic businessman but he was too stiff to get into the skin of the character. Out of the three Udita Goswami did her part to conviction. She was looking true seductress lady. Music by Himesh, as all know is top class. The movie is shot extensively in the U.K. that gives a fresh look and feel good appeal. But another drawback - the songs were not placed properly in the movie. Sudesh Beri as the cop looks very bored. Below par direction and shoddy climax ruined the plot of the story.
