INDIAN
Producer: Vijayata Films (Dharmendra, Sunny Deol)
Director: N. Maharajan
Music: Anand Raj Anand
Lyrics: Anand Bakshi
Starring: Sunny Deol, Shilpa Shetty, Rahul Dev

PREDICTED RATING: 6/10

'This Summer an Indian Will Rise'.

Well, that's what the posters of action flick 'Indian' have plastered over them! After the huge success of Gadar, Bollywood muscle man Sunny Deol is back in action in yet another patriotic movie.

Of course people will be awaiting the movie because of the big Deol factor. However, lets not forget that he isn't the only person here whose last film was a hit. Co-star Shilpa Shetty also struck gold with her last movie Dhadkan, and is a rising star in Bollywood.

T hese two are definitely assets for the film. Plus the fact that it has been shot in a really short period of time, plus the fact that it has been a massive South Indian blockbuster and director Maharajan hopes to work his magic in Bollywood too.

The songs for the movie have already started airing on the likes of MTV and B4U Music, with Sunny and Shilpa generally dancing around and looking rather good together.

This time around, Punjab da puttar Sunny plays an honest and courageous police man, who loves his job and is incredibly hard working. When he catches a big criminal, the hard-hitting case manages to affect his personal life too, and the hero is trying to save his close relationships as well as catching the baddies at the same time.

Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty plays his loyal wife - the original did not offer much screen time for this character, but lets wait and watch whether Maharanjan will be kinder this time around.

Perhaps the director should have considered hiring his technicians as the villains of the film - a number of them were actually hauled up by airport authorities in Delhi, who were convinced they were terrorists.

Despite some being jailed for the day, they were eventually freed!

SCHEDULED RELEASE DATE: September 21st 2001
