FILHAAL

Directed by Megha Gulzar
Produced by Jhamu Sughand
Starring: Tabu, Sushmita Sen, Sanjay Suri and Palash Sen
Music by Anu Malik
Lyrics by Gulzar

PREDICTED RATING: 4/10

It seems to be the season for the children of lyricists to join the Indian film industry as directors. First we had Farhan Akhtar, son of Javed Akhtar, achieve success and acclaim with his debut movie Dil Chahta Hai. Now its the turn of Megha "Bosky" Gulzar, daughter of the talented Gulzar, who is making her movie debut with 'Filhaal'. We wonder if she will face the same success?

Filhaal is connected with the experiences and emotions that we all gain throughout life, which help to make us the people that we have become. These define our personalities and influence decisions we make. However, at the same time, each decision that we make has the power to somehow change something in someone else's life.

The film looks at the lives of four individuals whose lives get entwined due to a twist of fate: Rewa (Tabu), Sia (Sushmita Sen), Dhruv (Sanjay Suri) and Saahil (Palash Sen).

Rewa and Sia are best friends. They have known each other since they met in kindergarten and are similar in so many ways, yet so different. Sia is completely ambitious and clear with what she wants from life - a career. Even the love in her life, Saahil, who has proposed to Sia three times, would have to wait. She is instinctive and spontaneous, living life to the fullest and every moment of it.

Rewa is more of an emotional romantic with a intensely sensitive side. Unlike her best buddy, Rewa is quite a silent and subtle introvert. She dreams about a life filled with the love from her husband and children, all of which starts coming true when she meets and marries the charming Dhruv. The newly weds share a warm, intimate relationship that deepens as they look forward to having a child.

However, nobody can change the course of fate, which is a bitter lesson that Rewa and Dhruv are about to learn. As much as they want to have a baby, they are about to face the biggest challenge in their lives, something that will not only affect them, but their best friends too.

Filhaal is about friendship,
Filhaal is about love,
Filhaal is about marriage,
Filhaal is about life,
Filhaal is about surrogacy,
Filhaal is about experience,
Filhaal is about emotion,
Filhaal is about unpredictableness.
It just happens.
