Apoorva Lakhia returns to Bollywood with his second offering – ‘Ek Ajnabee’ – starring Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and Perizaad Zorabian. The Indian filmmaker’s debut movie ‘Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost’ bombed at the box office, but Apoorva quickly revisited the director’s seat for the thriller ‘Ek Ajnabee’, which is apparently inspired by Hollywood flick ‘Man On Fire’ (starring Denzel Washington).

The story focuses on Suryaveer Singh (Amitabh Bachchan), an intelligent man who is losing his grip on reality following some bad experiences. Nowadays he turns to alcohol to ease his pains. In a desperate attempt to regain control in his life, Suryaveer accepts the challenge to protect a rich young girl called Anamika (Baby Rucha) – the daughter of Ravi (Vikram Chatwal) and Nikasha (Perizaad Zorabian).

The charming youngster brings meaning back into Suryaveer’s life – giving him a purpose to live once again. The two quickly form a close bond. However the good times don’t last too long. Anamika is kidnapped and Suryaveer is determined to find her before the kidnappers cause any harm. However the task is not an easy one and a cat-and-mouse game soon begins.

Ek Ajnabee is expected to release in December 2005.
