Director: Kundan Shah PREDICTED RATING: 6/10 Kundan Shah first directed Preity Zinta in the surprise-hit film Kya Kehna. The pair reunites once again for this movie, which also stars rising star Arjun Rampal as well as Mahima Chaudhary, Jimmy Shergill and yesteryear screen queen Rekha. After so many movies exploring the family tie between father and son, Dil Hai Tumhara is about the relationship shared by mother and daughter. Saritaji (Rekha) is a strong minded, wealthy and influential widow who is involved in politics. She also has two daughters, Nimmi (Mahima Chaudhary) and Shalu (Preity Zinta). The girls are both very close to each other, although they have completely different personalities. Shalu is like a tomboy w ho is full of mischief, whilst Nimmi is more feminine and gentle. Nimmi shares a fantastic relationship with her mother, who showers her with affection and love. However Saritaji doesn't match that fondness with Shalu. In fact, the poor girl is more or less starved of motherly love and yearns to share the same relationship that her sister has with Saritaji. Shalu finally gets the opportunity when she is able to help save her mother's political career, even though it means making the biggest sacrifice of her life. Although the story focuses more on the female characters, Dil Hai Tumhara also features two rising male stars, Arjun Rampal and Jimmy Shergill. Firstly, Dev (Arjun Rampal), is the sophisticated Harvard-returned son of a business tycoon, comes to town in order to close down a factory that is the lifeline of the local people and ends up becoming their savior. Secondly, Samir (Jimmy Shergill) is an ace ventriloquist and shy lover who can express his feelings only through his craft. Although it's a busy time in terms of releases in Bollywood, Dil Hai Tumhara is hoping to stand above the competition when it hits the big screen on 6th September 2002.
