DIL CHAHTA HAI

Starring: Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna and Preity Zinta

PREDICTED RATING: 6/10

The 15-crore budget movie releasing in August is a tale of three buddies and the women in their life. The film is about the kind of cracks that develop in their relationships with each other due to the women.

Dil Chahta Hai is the story of these three friends Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan and Akshaye Khanna. Akshaye Khanna is having an affair with a much older woman being played by Dimple Kapadia. Saif Ali Khan loves too many women(!) and Aamir Khan likes Preity Zinta. Aamir Khan also has some negative shades to his role.

The film is a cross between Reality Bites and St Elmo's Fire. More about the director: Farhan Akhtar is the son of writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar and his former wife Honey Irani.

Farhan who began as an assistant director with Manmohan Desai and later with Pankaj Parashar had directed the ‘Breathless' video for Shankar Mahadevan hit paydirt with this film. Incidentally Shankar along with Ehsaan and Loy provide the music for this film.

Mobile phones were not allowed on the sets and no one could make noise. The reason was that the film is being made in Sync Sound like Lagaan and hence there could be no noise on the sets as there would be no dubbing.

The promos of the film, which released in the theatres, have had a fabulous response. The promos are now being aired on TV too.

The film has been written like a Hollywood script and made with a Hollywood touch. Let us hope the Bollywood audiences can digest the film and also Aamir Khan's strange beard or moustache or whatever you wish to call it!
