CHURA LIYA HAI TUMNE

Director: Sangeeth Sivan
Producer: PFH Rave
Music: Himesh Reshmiya
Lyrics: Sudhakar Sharma, Jay Verma, Sanjay Chhel
Starring: Esha Deol and Zayed Khan

PREDICTED RATING: 5/10

Esha Deol, who's career has had a bumpy start, teams up with newcomer Zayed Khan, son of Sanjay Khan, in Sangeeth Sivan's Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne. Sangeeth Sivan's directorial debut, Sandhya, has been taking longer than anticipated to see the light of day, so he now diverts all attention on this romantic thriller.

The story appears to employ run-of-the-mill twists and turns, with people turning out to be not who they say they were. Whilst holidaying in Goa, a young and beautiful Tina (Esha Deol) is enchanted by Vijay's charm and charisma, and the two are quick to embark on a relationship. However, Tina is distressed by the news that her uncle has been killed in an accident in Bangkok, Thailand, and is urgently flown over. Vijay offers to accompany her and she is only delighted to have the support from her boyfriend.

Once arriving at the Indian Embassy in Bangkok, an official advises Tina to be vigilant as to whom she trusts, as her uncle was a wanted man in India for the possession of a multimillion gold heist. Her uncle's accomplices are also hunting for the heist, which may put Tina's life in danger. Enter the accomplices, Om, Sheena and Chingaar are all searching for the loot and harass Tina to no end. At a time when Tina feels she needs Vijay the most, he reveals his identity as a fourth accomplice, leaving Tina bewildered as to whom she can turn to.

Tina finds herself in a dangerous game of hide and seek, with the accomplices hunting her down as they are under the impression that she is the key to their fortune. To further her dilemma two of the accomplices' dead bodies turn up leaving Om and "Vijay" as prime suspects to the murders, and if they are capable of murder, where does that leave Tina?

The music for the film is a mixed bag of hits and misses; it certainly doesn't match up to Himesh Reshmiya's previous efforts in Humraaz. The film is likely to hit the silver screens on 24th January 2003.
