Chocolate: Not a sweeter one. Tagline does not match with the characters. Chocolate is a code word. It is the new slang of the crime world as depicted in the forthcoming Bollywood movie of the same title.

Christmas Eve, London. While the snow-clad city gets ready to celebrate the festival of peace and joy, a series of bizarre incidents shatter the Christmas calm.

A couple of luckless Indians find themselves hauled by the London police and made scapegoats. Or are they?

Chocolate unfolds a web of sinister plots, slowly unearthing true and mystifying personalities of seven individuals.

Seven high-strung, distinctive people who’ve chosen to remain in the foreign land hoping to make or break their lives.

Starring an ensemble star cast that includes Anil Kapoor , Sunil Shetty , Emraan Hashmi , Arshad Warsi , Irfaan Khan , Tanushree Dutta and Sushma Reddy , ‘Chocolate’ is directed by debutante Vivek Agnihotri, who has dabbled in television extensively.

Story

The film deals with seven individuals who are in London hoping to make it big. They are Krish (Anil Kapoor) a sharp and egotistical lawyer who has unmatched legal skills. Rocker (Sunil Shetty) is an obsessed lover clear about one thing - nothing comes on his way. Pipi (Irfan Khan) is a soulful thinker who would always prefer to tread the hard but right path. Tubby (Arshad Warsi) is a playboy. Sim (Tanushree Dutta) is a temptress with a dubious past. Devaa (Emran Hashmi) is a passionate musician who sees the world in black and white. Mansoon (Sushma Reddy) is a charming down-on-her luck journalist.

Suddenly they are in the news due to some unsavory incidents that happen in the city. They are booked by the police, which lead to web of ominous plots, slowly unearthing the true and mystifying personalities of seven individuals.

Shot from start to end in London.

Film’s director Vivek Agnihotri says ‘Chocolate’ is a code word.“It’s a thriller,” Vivek Agnihotri informs. “Every time I saw films like TEESRI MANZIL and JEWEL THIEF, I often wondered why our film-makers don’t attempt films like those anymore. CHOCOLATE belongs to the same genre. But, of course, it’s different.”

“Just like we have Indian slangs for one lakh (peti) and one crore (khoka), ‘Chocolate’ is a slang for illegal goods,” says Agnihotri.

The film has Anil Kapoor playing a lawyer who is a chain smoker. Arshad Warsi plays a playboy and Sunil Shetty plays an obsessive lover. Emraan Hashmi plays a musician while Tanushree Dutta plays a temptress and Sushma Reddy, a journalist.

Anil Kapoor says that he was initially skeptical about signing a film with a new producer and a new director.

“But when I heard the script of the film, I was convinced. I had to do it, otherwise I would’ve regretted the decision all my life,” Anil says.

‘Chocolate’ is slated to hit the theatres in July this year.
