BOOM

Director: Kaizad Gustad
Producer: Quest Films
Music: Talvin Singh
Starring: Jackie Shroff, Madhu Sapre, Gulshan Grover and Amitabh Bachchan

PREDICTED QUALITY RATING: 6/10

The underworld theme has become a common feature in Bollywood of late, and so is the case with Quest films' Boom. However, the novelty here is the fashion world and its relationship to the underworld. The film stars some fashion household names such as Madhu Sapre and Katrina Kaif who will be taking on roles in what they are best at, modelling! Jackie Shroff and Gulshan Grover play brothers who will be taking on the roles of the underworld dons. Amitabh Bachchan will also be making a special appearance, in what is likely to be the elder brother of the underworld dons.

Chotte Baba's (Jackie Shroff) attempt to outdo brother, Medium Baba (Gulshan Grover), and Medium Baba's plot to take over Bade Baba's (Amitabh Bachchan) position in the underworld, whilst they all are having the wool pulled over their eyes, is at the crux of Boom in this novel take on the underworld activities. Three hot supermodels, three underworld dons and a conniving plot are the three main ingredients that make up Boom.

Whilst the dons are busy outdoing each other the supermodels are lured into participating in a great diamond robbery. The dons are convinced the models are all beauty and no brains, but little do they know the supermodels have a devious plan of their own. By using their beauty to take advantage of the dons the models look set to get their hands on the diamonds. But in the game of outwitting one another there can only be one winner.

Director Kaizad Gustad's last venture was the critically acclaimed Bombay Boys, whilst producer Ayesha Shroff, has had a slightly rocky start with her home banner Quest Films. Quest Films' Sandhya has been delayed for many months whilst her first production Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behta Hain gained mixed responses. However, Quest Films cannot be ignored for the types of films they take on, be it a horror in Sandhya or a gritty drama in Boom. The Indian box office is badly in need of a boom, but whether or not Boom will have any impact, will be revealed when the film releases.
