BAS ITNA SA KWAAB HAI

STARRING: Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee, Jackie Shroff, Sushmita Sen

PREDICTED RATING: 3/10

'Bas Itna Sa Kwaab Hai' will Abhishek Bachchan's fourth film since entering the world of Bollywood. Unfortunately, his previous three films (Refugee, Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya & Dhai Akshar Prem Ke) did not do well at the box office thus leaving him in a struggle to establish his name in the big league alongside rival Hrithik Roshan.

This time Bachchan Jnr has opted for a film directed by his childhood buddy, Goldie Behl in the hope of reviving his career. Starring alongside him are Rani Mukherjee, Jackie Shroff and ex-Miss Universe Sushmita Sen.

The story line is a spin off from the early 90's Aziz Mirza film 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman', which starred ever versatile Shah Rukh Khan in the role of a poor guy trying to make it big in the city.

This time the role is played by Abhishek, whose character immigrates from Varnarsi to Mumbai to follow his dreams. He meets and falls in love with Rani Mukherjee.

Before he knows it he has an excellent job, money and a luxurious lifestyle, with thanks to media tycoon (Jackie Shroff), who helps him along with his career.

But things start to go down hill when Abhishek realises that Jackie, who he respects and admires, is in actual fact a manipulative, power hungry scoundrel. Sushmita Sen plays the character of Jackie's partner, who has an equal share in his wheeling & dealings.

The shocking revelation makes him decide to abandon his material possessions and return to the one person who loves him for what he is- Rani.

The original version (RBGG) was a fresh and exciting film, but will this be the case second time round? The cast certainly hope so, and with the craze of romantic films sweeping Bollywood it may even be a success that they've been 'dreaming' about!
