STARRING: Ajay Devgan, Urmila Matondkar, Nana Patekar, Rekha, Fardeen Khan, Victor Banerjee, Seema Biswas and Tanuja PREDICTED RATING: 7/10 Bollywood's talented director Ram Gopal Verma makes a welcome return to the big screen with the urban horror flick Bhoot. The big-budget movie (the most expensive supernatural thriller Indian has ever made) follows the current trend for spooky Indian movies, which started thanks to the surprising box office success of Raaz. This film has been made on a much bigger level and stars a host of well-known stars from Bollywood, including the likes of Rekha, Ajay Devgan, Urmila Matondkar, Fardeen Khan and Nana Patekar. However this isn't a routine horror film and doesn't feature any scary monsters, tacky death scenes or randomly placed thunder and lightening to make you jump out of your seats. Bhoot is set in a building in Mumbai and is about a group of people who don't believe in spirits and the supernatural. However they are placed in an eerie situation and sense an unexplained presence, which makes them question their doubts and realise that ghosts may well exist. Swati (Urmila Matondkar) is happily married to Vishal (Ajay Devgan), who earns a decent wage as a stock analyst. Whilst flat hunting, the couple come across a beautiful 12th floor apartment and decide it's the one for them. After moving into their new home things don't quite go according to plan. Swati witness several weird moments and senses a supernatural presence, which truly disturb her. The truth emerges that the previous tenant of the apartment died after falling off the balcony. However, with little initial support from her husband, who doesn't believe in spirits, Swati battles to keep her sanity. With impressive performances, top direction and scary music, Bhoot is a must watch film for 2003! RELATED LINKS:
