BARDAASHT (2004)

Producer: Film Folks
Director: E. Niwas
Starring: Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta
Music: Himesh Reshammiya

PREDICTED RATING: 5/10

Bollywood action man Bobby Deol makes a quick return to the big screen in Bardaasht, following the embarrassing failure of his last movie Kismat. This time around he moves from one beauty queen to another. Whilst Priyanka Chopra was his co-star in Kismat, its Lara Dutta's turn in Bardaasht. Other cast members include Ritesh Deshmukh in a special appearance, as well as Rahul Dev and Tara Sharma.

The story is about Aditya Shrivastav (Bobby Deol), an army officer who faces tension with his boss thanks to a series of disagreements. It doesn't help matters that Aditya is also dating his boss's daughter, Payal (Lara Dutta). Eventually his loses his job as well as his love. Instead Aditya sets up a travel agency and tries to make a new start for himself. He also looks after his delinquent younger brother Anuj (Ritesh Deshmukh), who studies at college but gets into lots of trouble over his bad behaviour. The two brothers have a massive argument and Anuj leaves the house in fury. Some time passes and Aditya slowly becomes concerned when his brother doesn't return. Bad news follows when the police find Anuj dead and believe he was a drug dealer. Aditya decides he must clear his brother's name. However he faces many difficulties whilst trying to uncover the truth. Luckily Payal returns in his life and provides support, especially in the legal department. Together they vow to find justice.

Although E. Niwas is the director behind the movie, his fellow filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has written the story. Hype for the movie isn't particularly impressive at this stage, although a well-made film will still find favour with the audience. Therefore if Bardaasht turns out well, it could help Bobby Deol score at the box office. A release date of middle to end of April has been set. Incidentally, Lara Dutta, Ritesh Deshmukh and Tara Sharma, who all appear in Bardaasht, will also be seen in the forthcoming film Masti too!

SCHEDULED RELEASE DATE: 16th April 2004
