Director: Ravi Dewan PREDICTED RATING: 5/10 Revolving an entire film around the underworld could have once been considered controversial but now it seems to have become commercial with more and more filmmakers enticing the audience with different takes on the underworld occurrences and activities. Annarth is one of the many films we will be witnessing this year with an underworld theme, but this time promises something a little different. Instead of focussing on one main character the film will depict many different characters and establish how the characters become interlinked. Brothers Jimmy (Sunil Shetty) and Raghav (Ashutosh Rana) run a small but successful underworld operation, where Jimmy is under Raghav's every command. Their sister Preeti (Preeti Jhangiani) stays well away from any underworld involvement and lives her life as a model and Music Video actress. She falls in love with her childhood friend, Samir, who was also once Jimmy's best friend, but is devastated to learn that he too becomes part of the underworld domain. However, the twist in the tale reveals Samir working as an undercover cop and this sways Preeti's decision to participate in the operation set up to catch the City Don, Dayal Seth. Henceforth, this will save Jimmy from progressing his involvement with the underworld. Working alongside Samir is Iqbal Danger (Sanjay Dutt) an Ex-Don, who after a series of offences spends much time in jail. It is during these years that Iqbal turns to poetry and on his release decides to open "Bewafa Bar" to commemorate his cheating ex-girlfriend, played by Shweta Menon. No film is complete without an extra twist. So, to further complicate matters Raghav kills off Jimmy and what set off to be a mission to save a friend, results in Samir avenging Jimmy's death. Ravi Dewan who is better known as an action director offers his services in the action department as well as producing and directing the film. This film will also mark the debut of Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli. What seems to be a character driven rather than story driven film, Annarth is set to hit the silver screens on November 1st.
