The much-awaited film, which stars Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, has five original numbers and two remixes.

The soundtrack opens with “All Izz Well”, a fun campus song that is filled with whistles in the background. Crooned by Sonu Nigam, Swanand Kirkire and Shaan, the catchy song is already doing the rounds of music channels and is sure to be a chartbuster.

The song also has a remix version that has more beats.

Next is “Zoobi doobi”, the only song with a female voice. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal with ample support from Sonu Nigam, the track has a retro feel. It is a melodious number that grows on you.

“Zoobi doobi” too has a remix version with more contemporary sounds.

Then comes “Behti hawa sa tha woh” that has Shaan and Shantanu Moitra behind the mike. It has a long prelude and seems to be a situational track. The poignant, slow number has soft musical backing and is very appealing.

Up next is “Give me some sunshine” that includes dialogues by Sharman Joshi and vocals by Suraj Jagan. The song is an unplugged version and will appeal to the younger generation mainly because of the composition and the song’s rebel attitude.

The album offers a very nice song in “Jaane nahin denge” sung by Sonu Nigam. It gets an edge with a sudden increase in tempo during the course of the song. There is minimal orchestration and focus on vocals. The lyrics are raw and intense.

On the whole, the album is a good mix of slow and fast-paced songs. Shantanu Moitra has scored quality music that has melody and generates lots of interest.

The album beautifully unwinds with soft romantic track-Shukran Allah. Enchanting and charismatic composition by Salim-Sulaiman and well written by Prasoon Joshi, Shukran Allah is an absolute soothing and pleasing track sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. The song strikes the right chord in the first go.

Dua Hai- (Singers: Marianne D’Cruz, Kailash Kher, Sukhwinder Singh)

Rating: 7/10

High on energy and a blend of Sufi and rock music is what Dua Hai is all about. The song begins with English lyrics crooned by Marianne D’Cruz but later it’s Sukhwinder Singh along with Kailash Kher that steals the show. Astounding composition by Salim-Sulaiman and delightfully written byPrasoon Joshi.

Rating: 5/10

Next to follow is Ali Maula sung by Salim merchant himself. A complete situational track along with extraordinary lyrics. The song carries typical Salim-Sulaiman composition feel.

Rasiya is a sensuous number beautifully sung by Shruti Pathak. The song is a semi-classical track and sees the blend of Indian and Western Music. Shrtuti Pathak’s aesthetic voice is the main highlight of the song.

To end with is the title track Kurbaan Hua sung by Vishal Dadlani. Highly energetic song with rock feel to it. Vishal Dadlani’s voice rushes adrenaline all through the body and wins immediate appreciation. The song is extremely addictive and is undoubtedly the best track of the album.

The rough patch continues with Ek Haqeeqat Tum Lagte Ho. The composition and the lyrics completely go in two opposite directions. Even singer like Javed Ali fails to create an impact with such a weak composition.

Up next is full of attitude track  Me Myself. The song with a rock feel but nothing new, fails to make an impression. Lyrics are utter disappointment and only good thing about the song is Kunal Ganawala’s rendition.

Next in line is Lagta Nahi Dil. The track with Sufi feel and similar to those heard way back in 90’s. The song sounds slightly better than the previous tracks and experiences some decent composition. But overall output fails as one feels as a heard before song.

 The album really gets boring as it moves and this is enhanced by Kiss Me One More Time. The song is absolute nonsense with some poor composition and silly lyrics. Listen at your own risk!

Tu Jaane Na sung by Atif Aslam is a sure shot winner. Amazing lyrics and great composition accompany totally with beautiful voice of the singer. Atif’s voice adds serenity to the song and is a sheer treat to the listeners.

Apart from the original version the song appears in four remixed versions. Firstly is the reprise version sung by Soham, Rana Mazumdar and Ashish Pandit. To follow is filmy version sung by Soham. Thirdly is a remix version by DJ Suketu. Finally comes the unplugged version rendered Kailash Kher, Paresh and Naresh and undoubtedly the best amongst all.

Khanabadosh is a true foot-thumping number. Full of life and bouncy track. However the song doesn’t become favourite on instant hearing due to it’s complex lyrics, nevertheless on repeated hearing it starts making an hard impact and gratifying you.

A blend of classical and rock music Khwab Jo is a supple song. Crooned by Shankar Mahadevan and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, their vocals add divinity and serenity to the song. Well written by Prasoon Joshi, the song directly touches your heart.

Yaari Bina (Singer: Roop Kumar Rathod)

Rating: 6/10

Yaari Bina is a soft number with a Sufi-feel to it. The song sees beautiful and one of the well sung tracks by Roop Kumar Rathod . Great music and instantly makes an impression on its listener.

Jashn Jeet Ka (Singer: Abhijit Ghoshal)

Rating: 6/10

Next to follow is Jashn Jeet Ka. The main catch of the song is it’s composition which is a blend of rock, techno and Arabic effect. Full of life and jittery, the song is extremely addictive.

The album ends with Shola Shola, sung by Zubeen Garg. The song fails to make any impact due to same old style of singing. Nothing new about the song and one would surely want to neglect this one.

The album burst out with Chiggy Wiggy, a song with loads of oomph and vivacity. The song experiences seductive singing by Hollywood hottie Kylie Minogue and Sonu Nigam’s eclectic singing. The Bhangra Beats go perfectly with the song and one is assured to get addicted to the song at the first go.

Aaj Dil is a passionate and a love song. A true masterpiece by A.R. Rahman with some great musical arrangements, especially the piano that is set in the background. Exceptional lyrics by Mayur Puri and outstanding singing by Sukhwinder Singh and Shreya Ghoshal.

Composed by Ram Sampath, ‘Daay Laga’ is a decent song with some hip-hop style music. On the downslide, the lyrics are blatant and refuse to make you praise the track.

Hippie Tu Jhoom (Singers: Sunidhi Chauhan, Kirti Sagathia)

Full of fun and humour the song sets you crazy. Carefree lyrics by Hitesh Kewayla, it’s unique music and vivacious singing by Sunidhi Chauhan, Kirti Sagathia would make the listeners addicted.

‘Love flashback’ reminds you of the older days and takes you to 80’s and 90’s. Bappi Lahiri vocals exemplify the retro feel. Nothing special about the lyrics and composition, it’s music may just makes one feel the song being a remix version of some oldies.

Kudos for ‘More Piya’. The song is available in two versions in the album- one being ‘Tapori’ and another being the ‘Bar . Some great lyrics by Shadab Akhtar and Manish Hariprasad probably makes it the best track of the album.

Both his produced flicks have made him the center of attraction. ‘My Name is Khan’ stars Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee whereas ‘Wake Up Sid’ features Ranbir Kapoor opposite Konkona Sen Sharma. The music of ‘Wake Up Sid’ is out now that has been composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy, as normally Johar’s films carry their music. The lyrics have been penned by Javed Akhtar. Lets check whether this album is potentially great to hit the hearts as usually Johar’s films’ music do well with the audiences.

Shankar Mahadevan opens the soundtrack with his well delivered style of crooning. This track is soft yet appealing. The lyrics hold values. Music is spongy. You love to stay with it.

Not for all the time, they carry good stuff and spongy music but most of the time, the movies and the music do well with the masses, which is why the banner is credible. With ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’, Yash Raj teams up once again with Pritam Chakraborty who composes the music for the album. The lyrics have been penned by Jaideep Sahni. The soundtrack, which has now hit the market, is the release of Yash Raj Music and is the fusion of Punjabi and Desi spirit attached to it.

1): Hadippa (Mika Singh)

The journey takes place with the song, ‘Hadippa’ sung energetically by Mika Singh. The tone is a total fun, which the listeners will surely like. Mika attracts a lot with the vocal quality. The lyrics, written by Jaideep, are laced with full masti and celebration. The music is well scored. The video appears to be superb. Shahid and Rani both look gorgeous in different avatars. Good expectations from this film’s album are nil since there has been no strapping publicity about it. It just started showing on the channels. Besides it is a low budgeted flick with no attractive starcast. So why one would try to expect high with this album and even for film? Anand Raj Anand has scored the music for this soundtrack and also tries his hand on the writing pad along with the other lyricist Anjaan Saagri.

1): Yaariyan (Anand Raj Anand and Anushka Manchanda)

Anand Raj Anand, showing his talents on various fields in this song, opens the album. He not only composes the track but also writes and sings it. But sadly he does not succeed in either department. Anushka too fails to register any impacts. The song appears to be not working in this age because this is the one that may have worked a decade back.

2): Masti (Sunidhi Chauhan)

Next appears an item song, ‘Masti’ sung by Sunidhi Chauhan who sings it with full fire since she is the master of chirping the item numbers. The lyrics have been written aptly as per the mood of the song. The composition is energetic. The visuals of the track have been running on all the music channels featuring Sonali Kulkarni gyrating and shaking her hips on stage. It is a front bencher number all the way.

Sukhwinder Singh makes the title track working to a bit. Aakruti Kakad croons the lines well. Lyrically and musically, the number is mundane having nothing to rave about. It reminds you of the early 80s tunes, which do not fit in today’s scene.

4): Khumariyan (Sunidhi Chauhan)

Sunidhi pockets another item number on this soundtrack. She sings it with perfection making it lively. The track follows the lines of Masti. Lyrics are not up to the mark. Music is just about okay. Since the item numbers help you tap your feet, but this one simply gets you bored. What you enjoy in this song is the singing of Sunidhi. Visuals featuring a sexy babe are not appealing.

The listeners still enjoy being with A R Rahman’s composed numbner, ‘Khawaja Mere Khawaja’ from Jodha Akbar. Sensing the quality of the song and being impressed by the skills of the maestro, Anand Raj Anand tries to follow the pattern in ‘Rabba Rabba’. Sung by Roop Kumar Rathod, the number is lyrically good but musically average.

6): Dil Ke Taar (Aakruti Kakad and Anand Raj Anand)

The concluding track is ‘Dil Ke Taar’ rendered by Aakruti Kakad and Anand Raj Anand. Aakruti impresses with the voice quality but it is Anand Raj Anand who makes the listener press the stop button immediately the moment he gets behind the mike. Very poorly and badly delivered voice, he presents. Lyrics are dull and so is the music.

A duet welcomes you next and is crooned by Shaan and Shweta Pandit. Both lure you full with their classically delivered vocals. A romantic number, it is laced with creative piece of poetry. The composition is what binds you all through.

6): Namm Nighaon Se (Kunal Ganjawala)

Kunal Ganjawala pockets a solo for himself and then delivers it in a way loved by all. Although the song has a sad feeling attached to it, the musician Akbar Sami ensures to lace a peppy style to it that helps it generate more lovers for this song.

7): Rangli Se Rangli (Ali)

It is a dance number that is sung by Ali who attracts the ears. The track has slight Middle East touch attached to it. The lyrics are okay and the composition fits to the mood. This song cannot be put into the best league of this album nonetheless it can be given a listen.

8): Fast Forward (Akbar Sami)

The concluding track is Fast Forward. It is a sheer dance piece that will make the listeners put their dancing shoes. Akbar Sami croons just two words ‘Fast Forward’ in this number. It’s not an extraordinary number but surely helps you go on dance floors.

Fast Forward is a good soundtrack being laced with some fabulous dance numbers and romantic tracks to chill the mood.

There has not been any buzz around for the film, ‘Phir Kabhi’ that oozes out from nowhere leaving the moviegoers think that from where it comes? Starring Mithun Chakravorty, Dimple Kapadia and Rati Agnihotri in the lead, the movie fully shows that its center is based around the senior citizens of society. Since the music is out in the market now, nonetheless no promotion at all has been witnessed. The composition has been scored by none other than Shantanu Moitra, who is a name to trust since he has given the melodious music previously to hum it around like the one in Parineeta. Ajay Jhingran is the man behind the writing pad of the album. Expectations for a good music are simply not there by the music buffs due to the vivid reason, as no one knew about this film and at once the music comes out from nowhere. Anyway lets check it out.

1): Dekho Jo Dekho (Dibyendu Mukherji and Sunidhi Chauhan)

The soundtrack starts with a number, ‘Dekho Jo Dekho’ sung by Dibyendu Mukherji and Sunidhi Chauhan. The moment the song begins, the atmosphere becomes tedious since it carries the poorly delivered singing, badly penned lyrics and mundane composition. The style of the music is same like 60s nevertheless the composer could not fully apply the same to this track. Leave it.

2): Phir Kabhi (Shaan and Shantanu Moitra)

Follows next is the title song, ‘Phir Kabhi’. This one seems better than the previous since it carries beautiful singing by Shaan. The composer Shantanu too emerges on the scene holding the mike in hands. Yes, he attracts with the voice. A folk type of song, it features good lyrics and spongy composition.

3): Bhai Re (Ajay Jhingran and Shreya Ghoshal)

The lyricist Ajay Jhingran senses his talent of singing and then applies the same in this song, ‘Bhai Re’ along with Shreya Ghoshal. Shreya is a wonderful treat whereas Ajay goes well with the mike too. The lyrics are just about okay and the same happens with the music. It is a below average number. Only the singers appeal and besides that, there is nothing to rave about.

4): Jheeni Jheeni (Bhupinder Singh and Hamsika Iyer)

The last to come is ‘Jheeni Jheeni’ that has Bhupinder Singh and Hamsika Iyer to croon the lines. As far as the singers are concerned, they do their job well. But the lyricist disappoints with the monotonous work and the composer seems to be taking his eyes off the instruments.

Conclusion:

The album has nothing to talk big about. Even there has not been any hype and hoopla for the film and album. Thus how can it play safe at the music stands? Overall, it is a poor show altogether.

Dircetor Rumi Jaffri’s much-awaited Life Partner’s music hits the stands. With Pritam on the music table and Javed Akhtar on the writing pad, one begins to expect some ilk of quality music. Let’s see what happens with this album.

1): Kuke Kuke (Shaan and Antara Mitra)

Shaan and Antara open the album with, ‘Kuke Kuke’. This is a parody type of number that features the badly sung voice of Antara Mitra (this is because of the requirement of the mood of the song where the heroine of the film Genelia D’Souza is supposed to play a bad singer). Shaan displays good vocals. Javed Akhtar does not impress as a lyricist. Music is good.

2): Kuke Kuke – Remix Version

Remix version tries to attract the listeners’ ears and yes, it succeeds in the efforts.

3): Teri Meri Yeh Zindagi (Soham Chakraborty and Shreya Ghoshal)

Follows next is a love duet sung by Soham Chakraborty and Shreya Ghoshal. Both do fabulously behind the mike. Lyrically, the song is appealing. And musically, it adds values also. Go for pressing the repeat button.

4): Aage Aage (Mika Singh, Shakti Singh, Ajay Jhingaran, Soham Chakraborty and Antara Mitra)

Horde of singers has been roped in to sing this track. From Mika Singh to Shakti Singh, Ajay Jhingaran, Soham Chakraborty and Antara Mitra all moor the belts to render this number. The bunch of singers does not appeal at all. Pritam’s idea of bringing many singers to sing one song does not justify. The tune appears to be outdated. The lyrics are okay. Skip it.

5): Gunji Aangna Mein Shehnai (Sunidhi Chauhan and Kirti Sagathia)

Kirti and Sunidhi trill this song. Kirti falls flat whereas Sunidhi somewhat goes well. The tune is no novel at all and reminds you of many previous songs. Lyrics are poor and so is the music.

6): Poorza Poorza (Sunidhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala)

Sundhi Chauhan and Kunal Ganjawala team up to warble the lines. Both display histrionics. A guest lyricist Kumar writes the lyrics and attracts. Well, this one glides on the ears and helps you enjoy the rhythm.

7): Poorza Poorza – Remix Version

The remix version looks okay but is not up to the standards of the original.

Conclusion:

‘Life Partner’ is not an extraordinary album but can nonetheless go with the listeners.
