The trailer for Columbia Pictures and Imagine Entertainment’s latest offering, Angels and Demons, already at 1.2 million views on YouTube, promises to deliver more action and story than The Da Vinci Code. With the casting of Ewan McGregor, Ayelet Zurer, Stellan Skarsgård, Pierfrancesco Favino, and of course none other than Tom Hanks, an apparently high pace delivery, Angels and Demons, based on Dan Brown’s bestselling prequel to Da Vinci Code, the new movie seems set to out perform The Da Vinci Code.

Tom Hanks reprises his role as Harvard religious expert Robert Langdon, who once again finds that forces with ancient roots are willing to stop at nothing, even murder, to advance their goals. Ron Howard has directed Angels & Demons & also co-produced it in association with Brian Grazer and John Calley. The screenplay is by David Koepp and Akiva Goldsman. Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) will release the film worldwide on May 15, 2009.

“I was of the opinion that there could be some problem with Angels & Demons too, before we began the project, as our The Da Vinci Code has faced a lot of wrath. But our anticipation of fear is coming to an end with the response of people towards the trailers of the film. I am sure that Angels and Demons would interest people more than The Da Vinci Code. We never want to hurt any one’s sentiments, we are just artists and I am sure that people would appreciate the hardwork our team has put in,” Adds Tom Hanks.

When Langdon discovers evidence of the resurgence of an ancient secret brotherhood known as the Illuminati – the most powerful underground organization in history – he also faces a deadly threat to the existence of the secret organization’s most despised enemy: the Catholic Church. When Langdon learns that the clock is ticking on an unstoppable Illuminati time bomb, he jets to Rome, where he joins forces with Vittoria Vetra, a beautiful and enigmatic Italian scientist. Embarking on a nonstop, action-packed hunt through sealed crypts, dangerous catacombs, deserted cathedrals, and even to the heart of the most secretive vault on earth, Langdon and Vetra will follow a 400-year-old trail of ancient symbols that mark the Vatican’s only hope for survival.

“I appreciate that people quite like the Angels & Demons Promos. I hope that they like the film too. When I read Angels & Demons, I was really engrossed by the idea of the Illuminati,” says Howard, “this four hundred year old secret society, said to include people like Galileo and Bernini. What happened to them? Were they really crushed? Did they really leave us? There are those who believe that the Illuminati have survived as an organization and are with us in secret today, influencing our everyday lives, government policy decisions, and corporate strategies.”

“What’s so great about a Robert Langdon adventure is that it stimulates so much curiosity and research,” Howard continues. “You read the book or see the movie, then you go to the library or on the internet – you want to understand Bernini, Galileo, their relationships with the Vatican, with the art world, with science, and the mystery of the Illuminati. Whether you believe it or not, it’s fascinating stuff, and in Dan Brown’s fertile imagination, it leads to a spellbinding set of clues and a great mystery.”

What terrifying discovery would make the Vatican turn to Robert Langdon, the man who cracked history’s most controversial code? An explosive international thriller, ANGELS & DEMONS careens from enlightening epiphanies to dark truths as the battle between science and religion turns to war…

Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) Films India Pvt. Ltd. is looking forward to the release of one of the most awaited films of the year by fans and critics alike, with lots of anticipation. SPE includes global operations; encompass motion picture production and distribution, television programming and syndication, home video acquisition and distribution, operation of studio facilities, development of new entertainment technologies and distribution of filmed entertainment in 67 countries worldwide.

Tune in for this can’t-miss movie premiere on Sunday, January 25, 2009! See the drama unfold, and friendships strike up in Krazzy 4, only on SET Asia!

This great Bollywood movie, produced by actor-turned-director Rakesh Roshan, is a remake of the Hollywood’s 1989 comedy, The Dream Team, and features an item number by Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. Krazzy 4 introduces us to four extremely interesting characters. There is the angry Raja, played by Arshad Warsi, schizophrenic Gangadhar (Rajpal Yadav), Dr. Mukherjee (Irrfan Khan) and the cute Dabboo (Suresh Menon). They are all unique in their mental imbalances, and Dr. Sonali (Juhi Chawla) is treating all four of them.

While Raja has problems keeping his temper in check, Gangadhar is living in the past where he is busy fighting for the country’s freedom, not realizing that it has been achieved long back. Dr. Mukherjee, who is a perfect doctor that keeps himself tidy and prim, was stricken by obsessive-compulsive personality disorder. And there is the lovable, autistic Dabboo, who has not spoken for years and seems to be afraid all the time. Shikha (Dia Mirza), a television reporter who loves Raja, can’t seem to help bring him back to sanity. R K Sanyal (Rajat Kapoor), Dr. Sonali’s husband, gets annoyed with the four patients and attempts to get rid of them.

Watch how this story unfolds only on SET Asia, on Sunday, January 25 at 8 PM!

‘The Unforgettable Tour’ is all set for kick off on July 18th 2008

Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Bachchan begin rehearsals in Mumbai; ready to entertain their fans across the globe!

Mumbai, 26th May 2008: The Unforgettable Tour, a never seen before extravaganza of Indian Cinema magic, is being unveiled on 18 July 2008 in Toronto, and rehearsals for the tour have already begun in Mumbai. Taking time off from their busy schedule, the lead stars have already begun preparations for the elaborate song-n-dance-dialogue routines that will bring alive the most unforgettable moments in cinema.

The first leg of the tour spans 10 cities, traveling to exotic destinations like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Trinidad & Tobago, Houston, Atlantic City, New York, Vancouver, London and Amsterdam, the tour promises to be an out-of-the-world experience, an event that would leave Indian movie fans asking for more. The Unforgettable Tour’ will bring together, for the very first time, the first family of Indian cinema – the legendary Bachchans – Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on one stage enthralling their global fans.

Speaking on the commencement of the tour, Abhishek Bachchan who is getting ready for the release of the much-awaited ‘Sarkar Raj’ said, “This tour surely promises to be an ‘unforgettable’ experience for Indian film aficionados across the globe. The report in one of the magazines about my beloved wife Aishwarya’s pregnancy is false. We are all geared up to perform and entertain our audiences. Aishwarya will be performing on some of her most popular numbers, including with Madhuri Dixit on the superhit “Dola Re” from Devdas. I am thrilled to be a part of this tour and am eagerly looking forward to performing “Kajra Re” with my family and some of India’s most sought after actors and friends Akshay, Madhuri, Preity and Riteish. We are all committed to ensuring the success of the concert tour. It definitely is an experience to look forward to.”

Preity Zinta, one of India’s leading actresses and current hot-favourite Riteish Deshmukh will be accompanying the Bachchans on this extravaganza. But the magic for Indian film afficionados only begins there. Indian Film Industry’s icons Akshay Kumar and Madhuri Dixit will be adding their charm to the trip as celebrity guest performers in specific cities. To add to this, the spectacular performances will be choreographed by India’s ace choreographer, Shiamak Davar, while music will be provided by the hot and happening music director duo, Vishal and Shekhar.

Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the pioneer of many extravagant and mesmerizing events, has been instrumental in shaping the Unforgettable Tour.

Except for the few that were there in your eyes.
The night seemed to fade into blossoming dawn
The sun shone anew but the dance lingered on
Could we but relive that sweet moment sublime
We’d find that our love is unaltered by time.”

-	Lyrics to “The Anniversary Waltz,” composed by Dublin/Frankl

The first time Ajay saw Pia, she served him drinks. She affected him more than the alcohol, and he found true love. He was a leading psychiatrist, but she messed up his mind.

The first time Pia saw Ajay, he had too much to drink. She watched him make a fool of himself, and was relieved when he passed out. She was a woman who followed her heart, but despite his claims of true love, she had made up her mind.

Thus began the story of Ajay and Pia.

A love story, that begins at sea. Ajay is on a cruise with his friends. Ajay is having a wonderful time dealing with martial strife, lots of bad language and huge hangovers, when he finds Pia, and time stands still.

After a disastrous first meeting, Ajay tries everything to woo her. She’s not an easy catch at all, but finally, by sheer perseverance, he dances his way into her heart. Ajay and Pia marry each other against everyone’s advice.

They develop a strong and special bond. In each other, they find an anchor. But soon the tide goes against them. Weighted down by lies and deceit, their boat is rocked, and their relationship is on the verge of drowning.

As things get worse, Ajay and Pia realize that marriage is not a ritual or an end. It is a long, intricate, intimate dance together and nothing matters more than your own sense of balance and your choice of partner. And Ajay and Pia are used to dancing together.

So they battle all odds, and dance, and sometimes they fall. But every time they fall, they fall in love. And that’s what a successful marriage requires. Falling in love many times, always with the same person.

This is the special love story of Ajay and Pia.

Eros International, the London AIM listed leading integrated company within the Indian media & entertainment sector, announces the release of Krazzy 4 produced by renowned filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and directed by talented Jaideep Sen.

Starring renowned comedians Arshad Warsi, Irfan Khan, Rajpal Yadav and Suresh Menon in lead roles, Krazzy 4 is a social satire with a soul. It’s a story about four most unlikely candidates becoming the torchbearers for humanity and goodness. Through a package of comedy and laughter, the Krazzy 4 teach us how we can all get together to make the world a better place. Krazzy 4 also stars Juhi Chawla and Dia Mirza and has a special appearance of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Rakhi Sawant.

Talking about the film, producer Rakesh Roshan commented:
“The idea for this story came to me almost eight to ten years ago – about four patients from a mental rehab let loose in a world that is not ready for them! After observing Jaideep Sen closely whilst making Koi…Mil Gaya and Krrish, I wanted to give him a break as an independent director and decided that he had the right sensibility and would not go over the top directing Krazzy 4.”

Director Jaideep Sen started his film career as an assistant director with Harry Baweja. He went on to assist Raj Kanwar for six films, worked as associate director with Sunny Deol on film “Dillagi” and joined Film Kraft in 2001 and worked closely with Rakesh Roshan on blockbusters Koi..Mil Gaya and Krrish. So impressed was Rakesh Roshan with Jaideep’s dedication and willingness to learn that he entrusted his next film Krazzy 4 into his capable hands.

Jaideep Sen commented: “As I embark on my journey as an independent feature film director with Krazzy 4, I hope I have lived up to the immense faith Mr Roshan has reposed in me. He is a man of such few words that when he doesn’t say anything, you have to assume that you have delivered a quality film that matches up to the formidable reputation of Filmkraft and the genius of Rakesh Roshan!”

Krazzy 4’s music has been directed by Rajesh Roshan. The film will be in cinemas worldwide on 11th April 2008. Official website of the film – http://krazzy4film.com/

Synopsis

It’s a mad, mad, mad world out there
Someone’s nutty about money …
Someone’s deranged by power…
Someone’s cracked with stress…
Someone’s unhinged by overwork…
Someone’s insanely in love….
It’s a mad, mad, mad world out there
And everybody’s worried they’re going bananas….
Except the Krazzy 4
Because they know they’re already Krazzy!
Raja’s anger knows no bounds, he’ll hit out at the slightest provocation or even without.
Intermittent explosive disorder is what the doctors call it. ‘Sarphira’ (crazy), is what everybody else does!
Dr Mukherjee is your perfect doc – clean and orderly, not a pin out of place. So what’s wrong with that? Obsessive compulsive personality disorder, that’s what.
Schizophrenic Gangadhar lives in the past…his mates are Nehru and Gandhi, Tilak and Patel! He’s so busy fighting for swaraj and freedom; he’s lost his sanity!
Cute Dabboo is everybody’s pet. So what if he hasn’t spoken for years? So what if he’s frightened all the time? So what if he’s autistic?
Dr Sonali treats them all. She has faith that all it needs is a little time and lots of patience to make them normal…to make them part of the mad, mad, mad world out there…

But are the Krazzy 4 ready for the world?
And is the world ready for them?
Watch out! The Krazzy 4 are coming your way!!

And yes…If you think they r crazy, think again!

Cast / Character Sketches

Juhi Chawla is Dr Sonali. As a psychiatric she knows what’s wrong with her patients; as a sensitive woman she firmly believes that if you really want to make them well, you should treat them with your heart, not just your mind.

Arshad Warsi is Raja. Truly the angry young man! His blood boils, his fists clench and he’s ready to beat the daylights out of anyone who upsets him in some way.

Irrfan Khan is Dr Mukherjee. He has decided that he’s the Captain of the team! But so obsessed is he by the need to be in control of a situation, he doesn’t realise he’s totally lost control of himself and his mind.

Rajpal Yadav is Gangadhar. He’s marching to a beat only he can hear; he’s fighting for a cause that’s long over. But in his muddled mind he’s still fighting for Swaraj; still hobnobbing with the likes of Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi.

Suresh Menon is Dabboo. Cute and adorable, he’s everybody’s pet and however far gone the rest may be, when it comes to Dabboo, everybody’s super protective. Even if he can hear and understand, Dabboo refuses to speak. And nobody knows why!

Dia Mirza is Shikha. As a TV reporter she controls the news on the channel, but as a woman she’s unable to control the unruly and unmanageable rage of Raja – the man she loves.

Rajat Kapur is Industrialist R K Sanyal, who’s also Dr Sonali’s husband. But in his quest for power and money he takes a step that will have alarming consequences for his wife and her patients – the krazzy 4!

Zaakir Hussain is Srivastav. He is so neck deep in illegal activities that now he’ll stoop to anything – even kidnapping and murder – to keep him ahead.

PRESS RELEASE

Times OOH, a leading player in the Indian out-of-home (OOH) media sector just unveiled a new brand identity from Times OOH Media to Times OOH. The need for a new visual identity emerges from vision for an aggressive growth trajectory being charted out by the Management. Times OOH is a trademark of Times Innovative Media Ltd. (TIML), which is a 100% Subsidiary of Entertainment Network India Ltd. (Times Group), listed on BSE/ NSE. Times OOH has been in the forefront of introducing new technology and innovation in the digital OOH space.

Recognizing the strong long term potential of the Out of Home media business and the attendant capital requirements, the Board of Directors of TIM recently approved raising capital up to Rs. 500 crore. With infrastructure development driving site addition and organized participation bringing in investments, the Indian outdoor advertising space is expected to grow 17% CAGR over 2006-11 to Rs. 21 bn. While contribution of outdoor advertising (6%) to the ad pie is higher in India vis-àvis the global average of 5.3%, the potential is still largely untapped. Factors like fragmentation, unorganized participation and poor quality of advertising sites had restricted players’ ability to market and thereby invest further.

In an environment when out-of-home sites in India were predominantly owned or operated by small, local players and are typically, directly marketed by them to advertisers and advertising agencies, Times OOH stands out as a marked contrast. Its success stems from its ability to provide geographic flexibility of the highest order to the advertiser. Coupled with innovations that allow this medium to be used for mass segments as well as niche segments, Times OOH managed to bring to life OOH advertising’s inherent benefits of freshness, freedom and scale.

This news will certainly have all of Shahid’s Gujarati fans smiling. The producers and distributors of JAB WE MET are leaving no stone unturned to publicise the film, which hits cinemas next week.

Shahid Kapoor flew down to Ahmedabad (in Gujarat) on Wednesday and attended three big ‘dandiya’ events (as this is the auspicious Navratri month) where he was the stellar attraction. He danced to traditional ‘garba’ music and even to the hit tracks ‘Mauja Hi Mauja’ and ‘Nagada’ from JAB WE MET.

Needless to add, the crowd went berserk on seeing him and couldn’t have enough of mobbing the star for his autograph and pictures.

His songs take you into a retrospective mood, a personality whose voice is sexy as well as spiritual. Not only does he sing, he writes his own songs as well. His fingers glide over the guitar effortlessly. Today the popular Sufi cum Rock singer, Rabbi Shergill is on the popular charts of millions across the nation. In a rendezvous with Sanjeev Shrivastav from BBC EK Mulakat for Radio One FM 94.3 on Sunday 30th Sep, Rabbi Shergill gives a peek into his musical journey of life.

Hailing from an academic background, Rabbi had to rebel, runaway and do all sorts stunts to convince them on letting him pursue his passion. “You had to have an MA just to sit at our dining table!” says Rabbi. Inspired at an early age by the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Waddali Bandhu, Shiv Batalvi, Lata Mangeshkar and many western singers like Bono and Bob Dylan, Rabbi always tried ways to blend western music and spirituality.

His first album ‘Bulla ki jaana mein kaun…’ remained a number one for 18-19 weeks, in the past few years no other song had been on top of the charts for so long. When asked about his admirers Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, Rabbi humbly says, “I don’t know whether he is my admirer or not. But whenever he met me, he praised me. At one particular party, he met me very enthusiastically and said that he keeps listening to my songs in his car.”

WASHINGTON: Bollywood may not ever develop as broad a global market as Hollywood, but it seems set to become a financier and marketer of global products, created at home or abroad, says ‘Newsweek’ magazine.

The ticket sales for Indian productions are rising fastest outside India, even as its increasingly wealthy middle class heads to the box office at home for more unconventional fare, the magazine notes in its September 10 issue citing PricewaterhouseCoopers projections.

And as the muscle of new media titans like Ronnie Screwvala increases, it won’t be long before they truly become household names, in India and beyond, the US weekly says comparing him to Jack Warner, the man who began the transformation of parochial US cinema into its modern global form.

Known by Hollywood insiders for producing the ‘The Namesake’, the groundbreaking hit about Indian immigrants, and for co-producing a Chris Rock comedy (’I Think I Love My Wife’), now Screwvala is co-producing ‘The Happening’, a new sci-fi thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by M Night Shyamalan (’The Sixth Sense’) that seems destined to vault him into the big leagues.

With a budget of $57 million, it will cost as much as 10 Indian blockbusters, setting a new bar for Bollywood.

“Our ambition is to be a global Indian entertainment company, there’s no reason we can’t make big-budget Hollywood movies, too,” Screwvala told Newsweek International.

Sony Entertainment Television Asia (SET Asia) is launching a new drama on Monday, July 16th at 7:30 pm EDT. Khwaish, the story of a simple, strong-minded girl Aafrein Hassan, a rich, handsome boy Kabir Khan, and their respective families, will air Monday through Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm EDT.

The Hassan family is a close-knit, middle class family consisting of the father Hadi, mother Naila, eldest daughter Aafrein, sisters Tamreen and Nasreen, and a brother Yasir. The story begins when Hadi is forced into early retirement, leaving Aafrein to struggle for a job. She, being an ideal daughter, takes the responsibility of the entire family’s fortune.

Kabir Khan is the son of Shahnawaz and Zarin. He has two younger brothers, Aazaan and Mazar and a sister Naaz. Aazaan loves and respects Kabir and the two brothers share a unique bond. Aazaan, the pampered son of the family, is pursuing a law degree in London. He has a westernized lifestyle and believes in enjoying life, which is extremely opposite to Kabir’s nature.

Kabir and Aafrein fall in love and get married. Aazaan does not like Aafrein because of some misunderstanding caused by Nadira bua, but he accepts her in the family because he feels that Kabir is truly in love with her. Suddenly Kabir meets with an accident and dies. Aafrein is pregnant and the family business is at stake. Aazaan has to leave school to join the family business and eventually Aafrein marries to him.

As years go by, Aafrein comes across the fact that Kabir was murdered and there is family member involved in it. The family’s much-protected secret comes out… Don’t miss all the drama on Khwaish, Monday through Thursday evenings at 7:30 pm EDT, starting July 16th, only on SET Asia!

Chath: A Roof Without Walls, delves into the dynamics of three homeless Indians living in New York City. Personalities clash and pertinent questions are raised about life, existence, and dealing with life’s disappointing failures. Filmed in just 5 days, under extremely cold conditions, the independent production reveals the oft-overlooked story of homelessness in America. The reality that homelessness is more of an emotional and mental phenomena rather than just an economic condition, is portrayed vividly in the film.

Inspired by real-life incidents and experiences of the homeless, directors Bilgrami and Das personally met with homeless Indians in New York City to get a better perspective on the issues. At a recent press screening at the Laugh Factory in New York City, Das said: “Some of the incidents that homeless people have experienced in real life are even more disturbing and horrendous than what we have shown in the film.” Hyder added, “The bitterness and trauma they experience often results in drug abuse and mental illness.”

The lead actors of the film, Sanjay Malhotra and Liyakat Khan, also shared their experience while filming Chath. Both of them attributed their decision to act in the film to the realistic nature and subject matter of the film. Malhotra stated: “It is a great opportunity to act in a realistic film that explores a hidden part of society that most of us pretend does not exist.”

Produced by Magnapex Media and Entertainment, the film is scheduled for additional screenings in other parts of the US and wide distribution in India later in the year. A direct to DVD release is also planned for later in the year. Chath was premiered at the Bollywood International Film Festival as well as the Cape Town and South Asian International Film Festival in New Jersey.

Miami, FL–It’s true – “Fashion does not have to be stupid” – and a new line of clothing designed and sold by former Bollywood star and activist-journalist Somy Ali http://www.somyali.com proves that it also can bring to light and help ease the problems of domestic abuse, rape and women’s rights around the world.

Using engaging words and phrases such as “Accept,” “Human Being” and “One World,” as well as iconic and diverse religious symbols, the multi-colored T-shirts, hoodies and tank tops that make up the So-Me Design line of clothing, http://www.so-medesigns.com/, connect all people and religions to one source: their common humanity.

The average price of the clothing starts at $20 for T-shirts and Ten Percent of the net profit earned from the clothing will go directly to the non-profit, “No More Tears,” http://www.nomoretearsproject.org founded by Ms. Ali to help build schools, clinics and women’s shelters nationally and internationally.

Both the clothing and No More Tears are products of Ms. Ali’s career and diverse background. Born and raised in the largely Muslim population of Karachi, Pakistan, she later moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL with her family before embarking on a modeling and acting career in India.

She successfully transformed her Bollywood film industry success into a college career in the United States, and a growing love of journalism through social and political activism.

Since her graduation in 2002 from the New York Film Academy with a degree in filmmaking, direction, script writing and editing, Ali completed three short films on abortion, domestic violence, and teenage suicide.

After earning a broadcast journalism degree from Connecticut School of Broadcasting, Ali has focused her attention on the plight of women’s rights in South Asia and is working toward bringing to the worldwide media’s attention to taboo subjects of rape and domestic abuse in countries where women do not enjoy basic human rights.

One documentary Ali produced recently concentrated on the plight of Mukhtaran Mai, who had been punished by her village council by subjecting her to gang rape. Mai made international headlines when she brought her attackers into a Pakistani court and was subsequently rewarded monetary compensation, which she then gave to charity.

“My goal is to help all of these women and make sure that every girl/woman in my country and universally is able to obtain an education and has her basic human rights,” Ali said.

Ali will return to Pakistan this summer to begin work on her latest documentary, about women who have been burned with acid in domestic abuse cases.

Shilpa Shetty is one of India’s most enduring celebrities. She is adored by legions of drooling fans for her knockout Bollywood body but shunned by the critics for her acting ability. Recently she has been at the centre of the biggest furore ever to hit reality television after starring in Celebrity Big Brother 2007.

But it seems controversy has always dogged Shilpa Shetty. Friends and family links to the Indian underworld, warrants for posing in an obscene manner, hush-hush romances and devastating heartbreaks. And rumoured reports of intense grooming and plastic surgery to transform this once ugly duckling into a beautiful swan. Was Shilpa Shetty really an Ugly Betty?

With exclusive access to her school friends, Bollywood’s biggest stars, celebrity photographers and her family, The Real Shilpa Shetty takes viewers to India and reveals the highs and lows of the Bollywood beauty’s extraordinary rise to fame and uncovers her private life away from the limelight.

The Real Shilpa Shetty, which airs on Monday 19 March at 9pm, will tell you everything you didn’t know about Britain’s newest celebrity sweetheart, getting behind the headlines and finding out what really makes this famous Bollywood actress tick.

Donna Taberer, Sky One’s Commissioning Editor, Entertainment said: “Shilpa’s story has captivated audiences all over the world. We’ve come to know her on a certain level and the events witnessed have pricked the nation’s conscience, but now we’ll reveal the real woman behind the headlines.”

The Real Shilpa Shetty was commissioned by Donna Taberer (Sky One) from Two Four Productions. Mel Leach and Juliet Rice are Exec Producers with Maria Knowles directing.
