Sajid Nadiadwala’s Kambakkht Ishq was the much-awaited flick. Everyone was sitting on the edge of the seat to watch it. And now, as it is out in theaters, all and sundry would surely go to view it. It was in news due to the Hollywood cast, storyline, heart-hitting foregin locations and the big star cast from Bollywood. Starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Aftab Shivdasani, Amrita Arora, Kirron Kher and in special appearances Sylvester Stallone, Denise Richards, Brandon Routh and Holly Valance; the film is directed by Sabbir Khan.

Viraj (Akshay Kumar) is a man, who does not believe in the institution of marriage and is of the view that women are good only for two things. He is a stuntman in Hollywood. And when the news of his younger brother Lucky’s (Aftab Shivdasani) marrige comes to him, he instantly rushes to break it off. At the same time the bride, Kamini’s (Amrita Arora) best friend Simrita, (Kareena Kapoor), who is a medical student and a part time model, too rushes in dissuading her from getting married to a ‘second hand’ person aka a stuntman. But now it is too late, as the couple has decided and made up their minds. Smirita too hates men and thinks that men like women only in bed. The fate get them bump into each other time and again and each time they meet, the hate factor increases between both of them. Amidst all, Simrita’s stubbornness leads Lucky and Kamini to the brink of divorce. Now Viraj does his best to stop this divorce to take place but Simiriti makes sure that it takes place. Things get more complicated when during Viraj’s operation, Simrita accidentally leaves her watch inside his stomach. What happens next forms the story!

‘Kambakkht Ishq’ is undoubtedly one of the most lavish film of Bollywood till date. The focus of the film is on entertainment and you really take a complete joy-ride with this outing. Admit, the film is a full package of entertainment for the viewers but it certianly lacks somewhere and it happens in the second half of the movie when it becomes emotional. Anyway, in short, it values your money that you consume on buying the ticket because there is load of entertainment in the film that gets you glued to your seats and you continue smiling all the way.

The war of words between Akshay and Kareena entices you in full. The sequence when at the church the battle lines are drawn for Aftab and Amrita. And the one, when at the operation table, Akshay spots Kareena. These scenes are really worth mentioning.

Each frame of the film is lavish and that shows the producer has not stopped his hand on spending huge money. And the mammoth money shows throughout the movie because every sequence looks grandoise. Direction is superb. Sabbir Khan deserves grand marks since he has presented the story on the celluloid like never before and how skillfully he gets the viewer glued to the seat is what makes him distintive amongst the other filmmakers. Music is simply awesome. Anu Malik deserves huge hands for composing such a fine soundtrack. ‘Om Mangalam’, ‘Lakh Lakh’, ‘Kyun’ and ‘Bebo’ are the picks of the lot. Vikas Sivaraman’s cinemotography is the work of art. The story and screenplay are maginificently penned.

The film belongs to both Akshay and Kareena. Akshay Kumar, though his last movies fell flat at the box office and due to that he had been targeted as well, shows his class. He tells the audience that he is a real superstar. Kareena Kapoor displays her histronics. She is really in brilliant form. Aftab Shivdasani and Amrita Arora do well. Javed Jaffri looks okay. Kirron Kher does fine. Boman Irani impresses. Sylvester Stallone, Brandon Routh and Denise Richards appear luminous.

On the whole, ‘Kambakkht Ishq’ will ignite the box office. The film is a sure shot hit. A compelete entertainer in every sense of the word.

The newspaper said that the movie, which was written and directed by Sabbir Khan, has an unrelenting desire to entertain and is driven by a “thumping” techno soundtrack.

“[The] ‘I hate you, I hate you, I love you’ plot breaks no new ground in the gender wars. But Kambakkht Ishq is aspirational in another sense,” read the review.

“To end the opening montage of Hollywood sights and glossy American stars, Mr Kumar comes flying through a window on a motorcycle. Bollywood, the film seems to be saying, is ready to crash Hollywood’s party.”

However, the picture did attract some criticism for its crude jokes and “a few unpalatable racial bits”.

Ahuja, who was arrested after being accused of rape by his maid on June 14, will remain in Arthur Road Jail while his case is fast-tracked.

Earlier this week, police confirmed that DNA test reports showed the actor had sexual intercourse with the teenage maid.

Ahuja, who recently wrapped up shooting Har Pall opposite Preity Zinta, faces a minimum seven-year jail sentence if convicted.

Bhatia suggested that the makers of New York had drawn extensively on a script she had presented to the studio three years ago.

However, the film’s writer and director Kabir Khan rejected the accusations, telling the Times of India: “This is really unfortunate. I wonder which cave this girl was living in so far to suddenly wake up five days after our film is released to realise that New York is about three friends against a 9/11 backdrop.

“It’s a great method of getting her 15 minutes of fame. Yes, we’re planning to sue her and make an example of this sort of post-success harassment that filmmakers go through.”

New York, which stars John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Nitin Mukesh, has been hailed as a box office hit after entering the UK chart at number nine.

The group went to a Delhi restaurant which specialises in Italian cuisine for an “informal” night out, reports The Times of India.

Padukone said: “It was a very informal thing. All of us are of the similar age group and we got along splendidly while shooting.”

She added: “We had been together for so long during the shooting that we had become like a family. And the dinner was absolute fun.

“We spent the evening remembering the time we spent together, laughing at internal jokes and spilling secrets.”

The Bollywood composer gained worldwide fame earlier this year after winning an academy award for his score on Slumdog Millionaire.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences president Sid Ganis told The Times of India: “It’s this kind of talent and creativity that makes up the academy and I welcome each of them to our ranks.”

Rahman wrote on his blog: “Thanks the academy for the invitation to membership.”

Other entertainment talents to be extended an invitation included Peter Gabriel, Emily Blunt and Casey Affleck, as well as the entire Slumdog technical team.

In total 134 actors, musicians and producers were asked to join the academy this week, with Rahman being the stand out Bollywood talent.

Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan starrer, ‘Luck’ has been well in news from the day one. The musicians’ duo Salim-Sulaiman’s composed album of this flick is out in the market.

1): Aazma (Shruti Hassan and Clinton Cerejo)

Kamal Hassan’s daughter Shruti Hassan opens the album with her power-packed rendition. She sings it with style that attracts you. Shruti is also making her Bollywood debut with this film. Clinton Cerejo also joins her behind the mike. The lyrics are great and the music is fabulous. Overall, the number is racy.

2): Aazma (Sukhwinder Singh and Satya Hinduja)

The second version of the soundtrack is crooned by Sukhwinder Singh and Satya Hinduja. Both lure the souls. This one is also foot tapping and boisterous with the energetic guitar strings.

3): Aazma – Remix

The remix version is pretty average and this gets you bored.

4): Jee Le (Shruti Pathak and Naresh Kamat)

Shruti Pathak and Naresh Kamat hold the mikes to render this number and allure you in full. The Indian and the western beats attached to the song attract. The lyrics are well-penned and the composition is mellifluous. It’s a hip-hop kind of number.

5): Jee Le – Remix

The remix version is not up to the standards of the original.

6): Kudaya Ve (Salim Merchant)

The musician Salim Merchant himself croons the song and injects pleasures and soothing comforts in souls. This romantic number has spongy lyrics. The composition gels well with the mood of the song.

The remix version is good to hear.

8): Kudaya Ve – Radio Mix

The radio mix fails to register any impact.

9): Lagaa Le (Anushka Manchanda and Robert Bob Omulo)

Anushka Manchanda bags the concluding number of the album.. She renders it with finesse. Robert Bob Omulo comes to give her support in the song. The lyrics are superb and so is the music. It’s a dance number and will be ON in all parties from now onwards.

Conclusion:

The soundtrack of ‘Luck’ is what displays the marvelous skills of the musicians who are known to deliver worthy music. And they are behind many hit tracks. Only the remixes spoil the magic, rest of the album is fantastic. Buy your copy to enjoy the music.

UTV’s Ronnie Screwvala and Ram Gopal Verma team up to churn out a flick titled, ‘Agyaat’ starring Nitin Reddy, Priyanka Kothari and Ravi Kale. Ram Gopal Verms himself directs this thriller that revolves around the realm of fear.

Storyline:

A film unit decides to shoot in Sri Lanka and for that they go deep in the forest to shoot the film. In this flick, each character exhibits their own quirkiness, their arrogance and their mixed feelings for each other. The shooting is soon put on hold because the camera malfunctions and the unit now has to wait for a replacement. They now have plenty of free time. So to kill the time, they decide to trek the jungle with the caretaker. The caretaker is found mauled one night. The fear factor rises much higher and everyone is now fighting to save lives from something they have not seen. This unseen element is faster and much smarter than then and is out to kill all of them. What happens next forms the story of the film.
