After the soundtrack of Hindi films, the next thing that strikes my mind is the Bollywood dance sequences. The dancing in Bollywood films, especially older ones, is primarily modelled on Indian dance: classical dance styles, dances of historic northern Indian courtesans or folk dances. In modern films, Indian dance elements often blend with Western dance styles, though it is not unusual to see Western pop and pure classical dance numbers side by side in the same film.

Namastey London came as a face-saver for Bollywood last weekend as it opened with good collections both in UK and Australia. The film got good opening and was touted as one of the best releases for Akshay Kumar since Phir Hera Pheri last year. Other film doing well in the overseas circuit is Mira Nair’s highly acclaimed film ‘Namesake’. The film is notching up the US charts with improving collections each week.

Domestic Box Office: Finally, there’s some good collection at the box office with Vipul Shah’s masala flick ‘Namaste London’ hitting the marquee with impressive first week collections over 60% and slowly inching up to 75% and above. The much-acclaimed film by Mira Nair though failed to create any stir at the box office, managed basking in good reviews. ‘Namesake’ has done poorly at most places with 15-20% collections.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, along with Bollywood’s hottest couple Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan will perform at the event.

Shahrukh Khan will soon have his wax statue at Madame Tussauds and along with that they will make a 50 minute long film based on the life of SRK. The film will chronicle Shahrukh’s life.
