In Mira Nair’s Shantara, Amitabh Bachchan will portray the character of Johnny Depp’s mentor.

Shantaram is the film version of Gregory David Roberts’ semi-autobiographical bestseller about an escaped Australian convict who finally ends up in Mumbai’s underworld.

Amitabh Bachchan will share most of the screen space along with Johnny Depp in the film.
