Aamir Khan’s critically praised flick Taare Zameen Par has been nominated in 17 categories at the Screen awards but the actor-turned-director is still adamant on not attending the show-piece event.
Aamir is well known to have reservations about these award shows and has never been seen at one. His reason… simple… he doesn’t believe in such honours and the way they are conducted. When Aamir bagged the National Award for Lagaan, his father Tahir Hussain went to accept it.
Talking to Mid-Day about the 17 nominations for Taare Zameen Par, he says, “My stance remains unchanged on the awards.”
The Screen awards will be held on January 10th and Taare Zameen Par is expected to win many awards. The following are the nominations for it:
Aamir Khan for Best Film
Aamir Khan for Best Director
Aamir Khan for Most Promising Debut Director
Aamir Khan for Best Supporting Actor role
Best Child Actor , Best Supporting Female Actor, Best Music, Best Background Score, Best Playback Singer, Best Story, Best Screenplay, Best Special Effects.

All bollywood awards falls in popular awards category . So amir is right. India needs to have at least one academy award function. To me best actor nominees for this year would be Pankaj kapoor (blue umbrella), Vinay pathak (bheja fry) and Darsheel safary (tare zameen par)

I think amir khan is fightened of defeat does not want to face the facts. He should accept award that come his way which are not many just for his fans. Everybody knows how the awards work and they go to popular actors and films and haven’t they for a long time you can’t change things to suit yourself. AWARDS ARE FOR SELF SATISFACTION AND WHY DOES,T HE ACCEPT THEM ? Its his fans which choose him he is to arrogant and he makes put that he is too good good for awards. His anti social why all a sudden he is doing all these intereviews to promote his films. HE KNOWS THAT HE IS GETTING OLD AND HE CANNOT HOLD THE FAUGHT FOR LONG.

I agree with Aamir totaly…. INDIAN awards are all bullshit. As an example , they gv hrithik the best actor award lst year for dhoom , which to me is bullshitt. I have full respect for Aamir. The Best actor for me this year would be that little kid from TZ par.. and not in the child catagory , thats pure bullshit… Best actor is a best actor no matter what age , the best actress would be madhuri or vidya balan for bhol bhulanya , eventhough it was a stupid movie but i think se did a very tough role. Aamir should def.. get the best director award.
The kid is to good for his age but saying he would win over SRK(chak de)is little to much,dont you think??Who saw this summer,the film that was copied of little micky(Lil bow wow starring)??that kid that made the remake in bollywood was better that darsheel,come on now!!
i think so amir is totally right.. I will tell u right now who will win the awards and it will be OSO. The indian awards are rewarded on the merit of how well the movie does not the actors merit.so it is kinda manupilative.But again I guess the audience are okay with it, so it became a tradition.
Aamir will be proven right for not attending the awards if srk wins over Darsheel for best actor.srk fell short in front of darsheel of TZP. This was his first film and he just 11 years of age whereas SRK has been there for decades and still manages with 4-5 facial expressions and gets by.
are we idiots, SRK in Chak De India was one of his best performances & it was successful among the public and box office, so did Om Shanti Om….Aamir attended the Oscar Awards function when Lagaan was nominated..and why cant there be indian film awards…bollywood is the 2nd best film industry in the whole wide world…stop crying of how Hrithik won the best actor award last year…everything is fair..it isnt fair that Aamir in recent years for directors and producers that he isnt attending award functions..when the cast of Dil Chata Hai came on stage to show themselves, where was Aamir…& How many facial expressions does Aamir have..what two….

To correct you on that mistake, Amir did attend an awards event once, when he was nominated for DIL as best actor…. that was the 1990 FilmFare Awards.
The award was given to Sunny Deol for Best Actor for Ghayal and ever since Amir khan has had a grudge with the Awards Ceremonies… come on Amir its a case of sour grapes, do you think you deserved it for Dil as best ACTOR? watch ghayal everyone again and tell me did Sunny Deol not deserve it as well as the National Award for Ghayal too.
Ever since the Awards have been bullshit…. Amir then got the award for Raja Hindustani as best actor, it was as if the awards ceremonies were appologising as if they made a mistake what idiots….. when Sunny Deol again should have won the best actor award for GHATAK it was his best performance ever and Amir got it for RAJA Hindustani which was a copy of ek phool do mali… and shashi kapoor did better than Amir in the movie.
Then he gets it for Lagaan???? come on people…. again Sunny Deol deserved it for GADAR and at least some awards ceremonies gave it too Sunny Deol for GADAR, and last year were the worse… how can hrithick get it for krissh and this year the awards are all bullshit.
Dharmendra is not even nominated for Best ACTOR for APNE it really pisses me, that the Film Industry has never liked the DEOLS and it is the DEOLS that make movies with unknown film makers and make them huge.
Who was santoshi when Sunny made ghayal with him???? and looks what happened, ever since Sunny stopped working with santoshi, santoshi has given all flops.
EVEN till this date GADAR is the biggest hit ever in the history of indian cinema need i say more???????

I cannot believe the awards are getting more and more absurd, imagine giving the critics award to amitabh bachan and tabu to cheeni kum…… come on fans… wake up and do something about this or just forget we had an awards ceremonies as its all bullshit and will continue to be until something is done about it.
