Celina to play Anarkali in Mughal-E-Azam remake
Published by  Webmaster  at 08:19:40 pm on November 23, 2006

K. Asif’s magnum opus Mughal-E-Azam will be remade following the current trend of remakes in Bollywood. And the juice is that Celina Jaitley gets to play the dream role of Anarkali in the new Mughal-E-Azam. The glam doll of Bollywood will get into the shoes of the Legendary Madhubala who immortalised the role of Anarkali.

The original movie made in 1960 is a classic Indian romantic film based on the Mughal emperor Akbar’s son Salim and his love interest, Anarkali.

Celina Jaitley is excited about her role in this period flick. She says, “The role requires a lot of preparation so i’m taking it slow.” Hmm.. intelligent thought, keeping in mind the kind of expectations the name Madhubala brings to one’s mind. Right?

  5. Bollywood has no imagination, if it simply re-makes an old classic with newer actors, lush sets and lavish budgets. Like Devdas, RGV ki Aag, it will go down as a damp squib. People will see it for its novelty value, but that’s it. But the legend of Salim/Anarkali can be re-made better than K Asif’s Mughal-e-Azam, if only someone gives thought to the historical ethos, facts and justapose it with the legend.
