This year’s first superhit flick Rang De Basanti is all set to woo the American audiences. UTV productions is preparing for the re-release of RDB across US in 2007.
“That’s true, Rakeysh [Omprakash Mehra] has already re-edited the film. It’s going to be a proper mainline release in the U.S. in March next year,” said Siddharth Roy Kapur [Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications, UTV].
For the first time an Indian movie will cater to a non-Asian audience. The film has been edited keeping in mind the firang audience and 25 minutes of the film have been chopped off. The movie will not be dubbed in English but will be screened with sub titles to suit the audience’s comfort.
Kapur added, “The business of R.D.B. has already exhausted vis-à-vis the Indian diaspora. Our target audience is lovers of foreign films,” Let’s hope RDB keeps our tri-colour flying high.
