i have jsut come back from watching Dhoom 2 and overall i am highly disappointed! only watch this film if you are a ash or hrithik fan! Im not an ash fan and that has completely ruined the film for me and the brand of dhoom 2.
ok details – i won;t be telling the story as to be honest it’s jsut the first dhoom but re-packaged stylishly so can’t go wrong with the story at all!
1st half- is AMAZING!!! Hrithik enacts each scene with such panache that you really are left breathless! You smile each time he come on even though he’s portrayed as bad. And it’s so good to see him in a different get-up–so relaxed and chilled!! I wasnt a big hrithik fan before but at the intermission point i was just thinking WOW!! acting and looks-wise!! You reach the interval point thinking yes–definitely better than dhoom 2 already! Abishek and Uday’s characters are still the same which is great because great continuation! And it’s so good to see these 2 back in those familiar roles that made Dhoom 2 such a hit!
Bipasha in first half – you just cool she’s gonna get meatier part in the 2nd half and are really rooting for her character to out-do Jai/Ali at catching Mr A.
Ash – as mentioned im really not a big ash fan and when she enters I was just thinking the producers have just cashed in on her big time but as the first half develops i was surprisingly put to shame. Her first scene–is cringeworthy! the way she acts jsut makes you think Why?? She looks amazing and dances outta this world, but i have always maintained ash rai is not an actress and the first couple of scenes she has really backs me up here. but like i said the first half she does come across well as the scenes roll.
Stunts in 1st half are out of this WORLD! you have to see hrithik doing the roller-blading! ur just left grinning away and wanting him to get away! amazing! music in the first half – i was disappointed with the music so the songs didnt really do anything for me to be honest. but the background score is again very suited to the screenplay. The first half is so fast and keeps you on your toes that ur just waiting for the interval to pass quickly for the action to carry on.
2nd half – this ruined the film for me. screenplay is slow and oft repeated that compared to the 1st half your just left thinking no way this cant match up. songs are really bad and picturisation of them are nothing special. but what really let down the film for me was characters.
i believe one of the reasons dhoom 1 was such a big hit was ue to the characters of all the actors and the chemistry they have. even tho john in the first film came away as the usp of the film u still relished the camaradie between abhishek and uday and it was incidents like that that made the film so unique.
Sadly, for me, the 2nd half failed. It focusses solely on hrithik and ash making it their movie through-out the 2nd half. uday’s character is totally relegated to a comic facade and where does bipasha disappear to??? What was the need to get rid of the cop she played in the first half to give her just a skin-show part in the 2nd? I feel very bad for bipasha because whether she had been present or not makes no difference to the film in the 2nd half. Although she does look stunning through-out. Abhishek’s character– where does his intelligence go? He meets Mr A, knows who he is, talk to him, dances with him yet he’s supposed to be on his trail!!! it makes no sense!! His super-cop fails him here. and where is uday to back him up??? Uday is again jsut relegated to dance partner for bipasha. The climax where uday and abhishek chase hrithik is nonsensical! they ride through buring lorries and seem to appear out of nowhere!!!
in the 1st half hrithik excelled, yet the 2nd half lets him down. from a super-cool criminal, excelling as a loner, working chillingly to steal he turns into a lover-boy who lacks the punch he had in the first half. u just want him to go back to his previous form not crying and being hurt!
as for ash – im sorry but this film was supposed to be based on 5 characters not 1! it’s a real let down that yash raj has capitalised on her name instead of paying more attention to all the characters. like i said im not an ash fan so i may be biased obviouls but i dont see the media’s extreme fascination for her? yes she’s stunning and dances well, but acting?? wer?!?!? and it’s sad to see that what was looking like a promising follow up is let down by the producers fascination to get ash into every frame. i’m going to give away a spoiler now so look away at this part — but what was the need for an ash/hrithik kiss scene??????????????????? it’s jsut PR for the film when ppl come out of it–oh they kissed! but there was NO need for it at all. don;t get me wrong i’m not a prude at all when it comes to sexual scenes but only if its needed and the kiss was jsut put in as a publicity stunt! more will be made out of that than anything else! i came out of the cinema feeling disappointed and frustrated – i loved the first dhoom but was sorely let down by this one.
however one great thing–ash and hithik’s chemistry is deffo sizzling!!
this film is gonna be a blockbuster no matter what – it’s got all the requirements (except songs) but for some1 who loved dhoom 2 and saw it as a character film that worked in a big way – then i was left really upset by dhoom 2. of course this wont impact upon any1 cos the cinema was packedddddddd and dhoom 2 is gonna be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2006.
in my opinion dhoom 2 was much better than the first one better gadgets much better robberies great stunts just didnt like bipasha badsu god i hate her just coz her boyfriend was in the first one she had be in the 2nd one i bet she went on her knees for this role
and a message for those people who didnt like the film i wanna ask as a question if the same film was made by some hollywood director you lot will be praising about it all day and declearing it a superhit but if the same film was to be made by a bollywood director you lot will look for reasons to say it crap
if you dont like bollywood films why even bother watching it i know not all bollywood films are good but films like this which are going to packed house you lot dont even like them you lot are just like critics who dont like any good bollywood films
i bet you lot will buy the dvd of dhoom 2 when it comes out no matter how much you criticies it lol!!!
an for the people who loved an enjoyed dhoom 2
i hope you all also agree with me
thnz an enjoy
AWESOME !!!
It was an excellent movie in all aspects, but the absolute best part was hrithik ash. WHAT CHEMISTRY !!!
This beats the chemistry ASH shared with Salman in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam or SRK in Devdas. Similarly for Hrithik, beats his chemistry with any other heroine. BEST COUPLE EVER. right up there with SRK and Kajol.
Dances amazing, looks outta the world. The kiss scene was a sizzler.
GREAT MOVIE
As expert reviewer Taran Adarsh of http://www.indiafm.com questioned, “Does Dhoom 2 live up to its high expectations?” The answer is identical to Taran’s answer which is YES. The Yash Raj company produced film excels from top to bottom. Calling the movie fabulous is an understatement. Be it the plot, characters or the music, everything was top notch. If Hrithik looked great in Krrish, he will surely win a higher praise for his exceptional performance in the Dhoom sequel. Moreover, if Hrithik dominated the action sequences, then Abhishek and Uday Chopra managed to match up to his height. As for the performances, the highest and most dominant star of the movie was indeed Hrithik Roshan, imposed as Mr.Aryan in the film. Hrithik’s sleek style and dancing sequences were praiseworthy. When comparing dancing, he can be called the best in the business. Moreover, his timing, physique and action sequences are never before seen in Bollywood today. In addition to the characters, Abhishek Bachchan also did an excellent job essaying the role of ACP Jai Dixit. However, he should have been put in at least one more song. After listening to “Touch Me,” it felt that Abhishek wanted to prove that he too was a stylish dancer. As for Uday Chopra, one feels that absolutely no one could have acted the role of Ali better than him. If he called for his “mummy” in the original “Dhoom,” then this time around he will call every viewer’s “mummy” to come see his performance in Dhoom 2! More importantly, he might be one of the many nominees for “Supporting Actor of the Year” and “Best Performance in a Comic Role” Now to the ladies. Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu both enacted their roles with ease. Aishwarya Rai has proved yet again that she has that glamorous look to her. She looks stunning. On the other hand, Bipasha Basu also looks stunning in her sequences with Uday. Rimii Sen has a miniature role in the film. However, while she is their, she provides some humor. The only problem that I felt while watching the film was that it felt like her voice was dubbed. It just didn’t seem like her voice. A good effort nonetheless. As a whole, Dhoom 2 will embark on a record breaking path and will surely be amongst the best films of the year. Yash ji has another hit to his bag. This will cement his reputation even further. All in all, Dhoom 2 will win praise as days go by even if the people don’t use their word-of-mouth. A sure-shot blockbuster!
Lord, what a pile of cack! The 2nd half loses the plot (quite literally) completely with the basic plot being ‘inspired’ (ripped off more like) from Entrapment. The music, whilst usually not my cup of tea (up-beat dance numbers trying to sound very western) are actually quite good and really the only entertaining element of this movie. Aishwarya Rai is quite a terrible actress. Hrithik Roshan, in my opinion hasn’t done anything note worthy or even seminally decent since Mission Kashmir (with Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Fiza and Mission Kashmir being fantastic). Bipasha Basu’s character was pointless. Abhishek Bachan seemed very understated and needed more screen time. Uday Chopra was, surprisingly the best and probably most developed of the five characters. Overall, $hit.

MY Dhoom:2 – Movie Review

Sorry…it wasn’t $hit. It was super crapola naffness to the Nth degree with a nice side helping of a heaped pile of steaming cack!
