Mumbai, Dec 22, 2007: The very stylish Shobhaa De’ extends her creativity once again as she unveils her latest range of X’Mas cocktail sarees at a glittering fashion evening at the ITC Grand Central. The unique fashion show rings in the air of festivity, where top models will walk the ramp, along with a scintillating performance by Mansi Scott. Shobhaa De’ who is credited with having created a glamorous niche line called the ‘Cocktail Saree’, has explored its potential still further this season by drawing inspiration from Christmas and the festive season ahead.
The new range by Shobhaa De’ aptly called the ‘Snowflakes Collection’ is a fresh, glamorous line that comprises of embellished georgettes, rich gajjis with gota, innovative kallidar sarees and the exquisiteness of her latest inspiration – snowflakes. The collection plays with varied colour hues like red and white as well as the stark blacks and whites combined with neutrals along with a host of other colours.
Shobhaa De’s Snowflakes Collection is a must-have for those hi-profile Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. It certainly marks a first, as no other saree designer has ventured into this specific space to come up with ensembles that reflect the spirit of X’Mas and the beginning of a brand new year.
In Shobhaa’s words: “I used to wonder why our designers didn’t pay more attention to this wonderful time of the year which is so special all over the world. The idea of doing X’Mas sarees came up in this very context – why ignore a global festival? Not everyone wants to wear gowns to the season’s hottest parties. Sarees are an equally attractive option, especially if they convey the mood of the moment. What better inspiration than the beautiful snowflake, which has been designed by God himself! And to think no two snowflakes are alike!”
“Each one of these handcrafted sarees promises to complement respective personalities that reflect good taste, great style and arresting presence. Each one of them exudes the all-important ‘wow’ factor.”
Shobhaa is someone who has not just monitored fashion trends in India and abroad for three decades, but also mirrored them, besides projecting her own very distinct style; she now blends that originality and style to mark her latest creation of the Cocktail Sarees.
