Success and failure dont verify the genius’s work and sheer class of a filmmaker. They can only talk about the taste of the audience. In case of film maker J.P. Dutta, he’s unfazed by the failure of his recent release Umrao Jaan at the box office. Dutta said, “my regret is that the film which has not been able to do well in India is doing well overseas.”
Dutta has been upset over the popularity of Hollywood flicks in India at the cost of Bollywood movies. He finds overseas market as a better market for Indian flims than India itself. “A U.S based journalist remarked that Umrao Jaan is a film that talks about rebuilding of India, showcasing what the country is all about. But unfortunately, nobody here is interested to know about it.”
And more sadly, Casino Royale opened to full houses but many Bollywood hopefuls were tagged as ‘flop’ the very next week. No doubt Genext is hip and hip-deep in ignorance.
