Over the week, Vivah and Apna Sapna Money Money has been doing steady business. Both the movies have got a good start, after an initial drop. Don continues to be an average crowd puller, while, Umrao Jaan has fallen flat at the Box Office. Salmaan, Priety and Akshay starrer Jaan-e-man has been a below average crowd puller. Vivah has got a good response in the small towns across the country.
This week’s box office report :
• Apna Sapna Money Money continues to be the No.1 for the week. The comic timing of Ritesh Deshmukh and Anupam Kher along with the glamorous babes is doing the trick for this bone-tickling comedy. It has already earned 3,49,913 avg/print.
• Vivah is doing a good business in many of the small towns as well as in the cities, drawing in families to the theatres. It has already earned up to 1,00,16,190 in Mumbai itself, with earning 3,19,243 all over India.
• Farhan Akhtar’s Don continues to be an average grosser, earning 1,16,930 this week.
• J.P. Dutta’s Umrao Jaan has been declared as a flop with 72,164 earning this week.
• Sajid Nadiadwala’s Jaan-e-man is doing below average at most of the places, earning 61,817 this week.

Media should not play dirty in calling a hit film as average or worse as flop. facts and figures do not lie. However, no matter Don is a hit film, it is by no means a good film. Infact it is Farhan Akhter’s worst attempt so far. The film suffers due to bad screenplay, bad characterization and poor display of the song khakike paan, which was supposed to be the USP of the film.
It’s funny that a good film such as Swades (2004) fails at the BO while a below average film in terms of quality such as Don is a hit. Anyways congrats to SRK for its success.
