Smt. Nita Ambani launched the book today at a function at Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai.
The book is a compilation of exciting and healthy recipes created by chefs at RKHS and has been inspired by RKHS’s healthy food manual, which it employs at various schools they serve. The book is a refined version of this manual and contains 150 exciting and multicuisine recipes. They have been handpicked by RKHS chefs and edited by Karen Anand, which has made the book fun to read and cook from.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr.Sunil Nayak, CEO, RKHS said, “We are glad to launch this book as RKHS caters to large number of schools across the country. We want to play a contributory role for in kids healthy eating growing up beyond schools. We want to ensure that the young students continue to enjoy a healthy meal even at home and want to show that nutritious food can be both exciting and easy to prepare”.
The book takes into account the evolving kids tastes and feedback from schools for healthy meal options. Drawing from RKHS’s Healthy Food manual, which contains a 4-week non-repeating cyclic menu of recipes, the book keeps in mind the nutritional requirements for children. Each recipe has been tested, standardized and balanced. The recipes and menus have been validated & certified by the food science and nutrition department of Smt. P. N. Doshi Women’s College, an SNDT Women’s University affiliate. Celebrated gourmet chef Karen Anand has edited the recipes in the book.
The book would specially appeal to the parents since their children’s nutritional needs have to be taken care of beyond school as well. There are recipes like wraps, pizza, pan cakes, baked spring rolls, etc, which have healthy nutrition ingredients. The book is published by Westland Books Pvt Ltd.
Speaking on the occasion Smt. Nita Ambani, Chairperson, Dhirubhai Ambani International School , observed ,” By this book, Karen and RKHS team have made a welcome contribution to the literature on healthy food for children. I am sure it will add a new flavour in the provision of school food services. You will make the mother’s job a lot easier and as a mother I will like to thank you for this book.”
The book propagates an altered method of cooking like Stir-frying, Roasting, Sautéing, Grilling and broiling in place of frying wherever possible
“Healthy food need not be boring food, that’s the premise of this book and that is why I chose to be involved in it and put it into a format which is fun to read and cook. Health has to be a habit. It has to be everyday. One can’t treat health like a fad diet. Education is the first step to good health. Creating interesting recipes is the second step”, said noted celebrated chef Karen Anand
