Now this may come as a surprise to all you Madhuri Dixit fans… the Bollywood Queen turned down a major Hollywood TV role.
Yes, it is true. Dixit was offered a plum 3 episode arc on the now deceased NBC political thriller West Wing. And not only that, but she turned down 2 other major Hollywood roles.
According to a friend of Madhuri’s, “She was offered a couple of roles in Hollywood, but refused them. She wanted to spend time with her family. But she did toy with the idea of working in West Wing which first aired on NBC in 1999, and has been broadcast by many networks in dozens of other countries. The series ended its seven-year run on May 14, 2006.”
The source continues, “Madhuri accepted the Yash Raj film because it would offer her luxuries that she could never expect in the West. She was worried about spending time away from her kids while shooting, due to which Yash Chopra made a small play area near the sets so that the children could accompany her and spend time with her.”
Madhuri admits, “I was offered the role but at that time I was pregnant with my second child, and so I said ’sorry’.”
