Talking to DNA, Aamir said “A week into the shooting he (Amul Gupte) and I had some differences, so we talked about it and I offered to step down as producer and actor, and he could make the film with somebody else. He thought about this and decided he preffered me to stay on as producer and actor.”

Ramu and I had no creative differencs at all during Rangeels. I was very happy with how the movie turned out. After it releases, Ramu made a lot of statements, which were untrue. But he is entitled to have an opinion.”
Aamir also confirmed that Taare Zameen Pe is not an autobiography of his own childhood, saying “It is a script that was sent to me. It was written by Amol, who has been closely involved with kids for a good five to seven years. The script is about his experiences with them.”
