EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI
The beauty supremo is back in her comeback avtar – Madhuri Dixit. The ruling Bollywood queen of the past chose one of the most successful banners, Yash Raj Films to make her much awaited return to the bigscreen of Bollywood.
Sadly though, Aaja Nachle does not meet the ends in an appropriate way. The film is weak at its very root level – script. Thanks to a few good performances, the movie turns out to be an average time pass entertainer.
The film turns out to be a pot boiler kinda tricklines, which take their own set of liberties to present things in a glamourous way. Aaja Nachle leaves you thinking with some sensible questions and unmet hurdles in Dia (Madhuri’s character) journey’s.
Dia is back from New York, as her mentor Makarand (Darshan Zariwala) is on the bed of death in Shamli. Originally from Shamli, Dia carries her screwd memories from the city, which also taught her the art of dance.
Now, Dia is back with a mission – to revive the Ajanta theatre, which is now under the scanner of local authorities and politician. Dia gets a team of support from the local residents and she prepares them for the next to impossible task of saving Ajanta theatre.
The screenplay moves smoothly without any hitches and that hurts the most, as everything looks soft and sweet. Nutty politician and businessman are convinced quite easily which don’t gel with their character sketches.
Anil Mehta works well with the artistic shots but his prowess on the script leaves much to be desired. More importantly, the director creates an imbalance between reality and cinematic reality which is clearly visible in the film.
