In an episode of Jjhoom (which will be shown later tonight – 30th November 2007), one of the judges walked out after a revelation that comments are being ‘doctored’
The ‘doctored’ remark came from singer Sanjeevani, who alleges that her comments are being doctored by the channel (Sahara One).
A source who was present on the set said, “In the reality bytes section, Sanjeevani was shown to be saying things like Shabana-ji (Shabana Azmi) is biased towards certain participants like Sachin Tyagi and Roshni Chopra and that her student Shekhar Suman was not getting the recognition that he deserved. She says that no one was noticing the improvement in his (Shekhar Suman’s) voice quality.” The source added, “She was even heard saying that ‘Shabana toh madam Australia ghoom phir ke aayi, she wasn’t even here for two weeks, how will she know the improvement in the contestants who are trying so hard to improve on their singing?”
These remarks have left the judges pretty miffed, prompting one judge (Mahesh Bhatt) to walk out.
Sanjeevani says, “The reality byte section was distorted. I was trying to say that judging should not only be on talent and melody, but also on how well the student is being groomed. They showed the irrelevant comments making it look as if I was disrespectful towards the judges,” she said, adding, “Shabanaji’s foreign tour was comment upon in jest. But that too was distorted probably to add some masala.”
When contacted, Shabana said, “Sanjeevani did say certain things that could have miffed me. But I kept my cool. You can’t satisfy everyone with your opinions and people react differently. Everyone has the right to challenge even the Supreme Court’s decision. But Mahesh (Bhatt) took great exception to it. However, she came to me after the show and clarified that she didn’t mean to disrespect me. I assured her I was not taking it personally.”
