Shah Rukh Khan is getting a lot of heat from everywhere. First it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali, then Manoj Kumar and Salman Khan, and now it’s the turn of the Indian Cricket board.
The BCCI is not happy that King Khan is using their matches to promote his movie. Shah Rukh has been seen at numerous matches recently, and this hasn’t gone down well with the organisers.
Shah Rukh was seen heavily promoting his movie Om Shanti Om at the T20 World Championship final in South Africa, followed by the T20 match between India and Australia. In the final, where India beat Pakistan, he actually went onto the ground to celebrate with the players.
An angry BCCI offical says, “”This is a much bigger platform than being on a private television station. A match is watched by the entire country, there is no better way to create recall value. We have to be understand that.”
BCCI were happy with Shah Rukh’s presence at these matches, but it seems he went a little over the top during the fifth and final One Day International in Jaipur, where he was interviewed by the host broadcaster about the match but he started to discuss Om Shanti Om instead.
Board secretary Niranjan Shah refused to comment on the matter when contacted by a leading Indian newspaper, but it is believed that the board are secretly considering barring Shah Rukh Khan from any future matches. The BCCI are known to be very strict with sponsorship and advertising, and this is exactly that… promotion of a branded product.
UPDATE: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has vowed never again to watch a cricket match in a stadium, after some officials at BCCI made comments about him attending matches only to promote his movie Om Shanti Om.
The actor was upset at the remarks and was close to tears when a reporter asked him about his thoughts on the recent furore. “I am disappointed,” Shah Rukh said, adding, “I take my children to watch the match and if someone asks me a question about my film, I will obviously answer them.”
“I will not watch a cricket match in future. Even if my children Aryan and Suhana go, I will tell the BCCI officials not to focus the camera on them and make a statement that their father is Shah Rukh Khan,” the actor stated.
He made these statements during the launch of the book, The Making Of Om Shanti Om.

As for the T20 Cricket match, SRK WAS NOT INVITED to that game! He decided ON HIS OWN to take his son if India Team made it to the finals which they did and won! This was on the local papers and on the net! He used that medium to promote his film OSO and it was brought up to his attention then! Now again when his film has done great at the box-office he is using them! There is no need to for this as stated in most post above…SRK is well known so why resort to these tactics! It’s not wrong to promote A FILM if and when the sponsers of such events and the makers of the films have sign agreements to do so! Today so many filmmakers are NOW using TV Serials, Talent shows, endorsements to promote thier films one does not know what they will do or use next! Rest meri case!

He just goes to see matches to have some good time, support the indian team, and also because many indian cricketers are SRK fans and SRK loves to do things for fans in whatever way possible……

SRK is being used by BCCI to get some mileage. BCCI is also jealous that when SRK comes to view matches, focus of the viewers shift to him more than the game. It is bound to happen as he’s more popular than all cricketers put together. Anyway, such comments from BCCI cannot do anything to King Khan. He is the best and will remain so whatever some people may do to bring his popularity down out of jealousy.

SRK did not go seeking publicity to watch matches. If people love him and forget cricket when they see him in the audience, it’s not SRK’s problem.
As for Lagaan, Aamir Khan was never as popular as SRK to get so much success. Compare the sports’ films of those two stars- Aamir’s Lagaan and SRK’s Chak De. Chak De has done more than double the business Lagaan did. And that too when Lagaan was on India’s most popular sport Cricket where as Chak De was about India’s dying sport, hockey which nobody was following.
SRK is the King and nobody’s negative comments can change that…….

Famous Film stars such as SRK are just normal people, the only difference is that they work in an industry which allows them to be famous! Is Shah Rukh going overboard with OSO promotion?
These days Shah Rukh Khan is only seen with two things. One is Deepika Padukone and the other is his pony tail! He is seen here, there and everywhere! It’s quite a shame to see the King Khan crossing his limits and going berserk with his promotional activities for Om Shanti Om! From launching magazines who have him and Deepika on the cover to walking the ramp, selling cell phones, judging reality shows, throwing parties to celebrate OSO’s completion, success, international success, critical success blah blah… SRK has become simply unbearable all thanks to his omnipresence! When we thought we had had enough of him, he started to attend even the Cricket matches to indirectly promote his film! No matter how much he denies it or even BCCI backtracks from its earlier statement saying he should not use Cricket to promote his film, we are of the opinion that its high time Shah Rukh calms down! Also is he not confident about his stardom? Does he not know that he is the hottest selling Bollywood property in India and abroad? Why try and force the audiences to go see the film when they would want to see it anyway!

He wasnt promoting his film at the 5th one day game. What is he suppose to say when Ramiz Raja asks about the film? Anyway the film was a huge hit before this match. It does not need promoting.
