First it was Sanjay Leela Bhansali [read here], then came Manoj Kumar [read here], and now it’s the turn of Salman Khan… each day another twist happens in the tale of Shah Rukh Khan and his adversaries.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali wasn’t happy when Shah Rukh Khan threatened to destroy the 150 people working on Saawariya, Manoj Kumar was ready to sue Shah Rukh for depicting him comicly in Om Shanti Om, and now Salman Khan has said that it is only because of him that Shah Rukh Khan is so popular.
In a recent interview given to Screen India, Salman Khan states that he was first offered the role in Abbas-Mustan’s Baazigar. He was interested, and showed the script to his father Salim. Salim said that the movie would be appreciated better if the character had a mother… Abbas-Mustan refused to include this angle in the story and Salman refused the role. The role was then offered to Shah Rukh Khan, who accepted it, and because of it’s popularity, became a super success story.
Talking about this incident, Salman says, “I had refused Baazigar. When Abbas-Mustan came to me with the script, I asked my dad for his inputs. He felt that since it’s a story of a negative character they should add an angle of the mother in it. They didn’t agree. When I turned down the film, they went to Shah Rukh and then they added the mother angle! But I don’t regret it at all.” Finsihing of this comment, Salman added, “If I had done Baazigar then there would be no Mannat standing in Bandstand today,” referring to Shah Rukh Khan’s house.
Salman also disclosed that he was offered Chak De! India also, and the reason why he turned it down was the title of the film, he says, “I had a problem with the title. I wish they hadn’t added India to the title. I felt our fans in Pakistan and Bangladesh might feel bad.” This indeed was the case as the film, which was hugely popular in India, failed to make much money overseas.
Finally, talking about the stiff competition between Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and his own Saawariya… Salman laughed of the threat by saying, “There is no competition between Shah Rukh and me.”

I dont think Salmaan has anyway said something bad to Shahrukh in his statement. He has given his part of detail regarding Baazigar. About Bhansali’s comments about Shahrukh khan is some extend good as far as he says “Shahrukh khan should not say he will distroy 150 investors of Saawariya” but in my opinion Saawariya is very boring movie, it feels we are watching a recorded theater drama. but acting of new comers were good but sanjay’s art style is boring. Now about Mr. Manoj Kumar’s case, in movie there is dialog “Manoj kumar is very good person he will not mind” till this point its good, the part of beating duplicate manoj kumar in the movie was not good.

Hey, I was a fan of Salman and such statement from him created a wrong impression of Salman in me. But this is what Salman said, “(Laughs) But I don’t regret it at all. Hmm - Technicaly isnt Salman Khan bigger in terms of money making hit movies than Shahrukh? I like some of Shahrukh’s films such as Main Hoon Na - But if you compare his string of hits to say the large histroy of hits made by say Salman Khan, or Anil Kapoor, or Govinda or Sunny Deol - then really you dont really have a great star in Shahrukh -
He seems to have been marketed well and was very succesful previously - and undoubtably a lot of his movies are hits but some of his movies are not big hits - And the movies that he makes are few and far between anyway - He takes a long time making movies - maybe one or two a year - where as an actor such as Akshay Kumar can star in 3 or 4 quality hits a year (and can act better than him too).
I dont feel Shahrukh is too big for his boots - He seems to be a modest character and very friendly when interviewed on screen and I certainly dont think he is really a ‘great’ actor as some people make him out to be although he is a reasonably likeable actor and definitely has talent -
I feel there is a lot of new and immerging talent which have already overtaken him, actors such as Bobby Deol and Arjun Rampal seem to be a hit with the ladies and they can certainly act a lot better than Shahrukh too.
As far as Bazigar is concerned - It does sound true - it can be a toss of a coin that makes a person a star - However I do feel Salman would have played the negative character a lot better than Sharukh - Salman has a natural ability to act - similar to Sean Connery.

But I had a problem with the climax. My reasoning was that if you lose to Pakistan then you also have to win with Pakistan. I also had a problem with the title. I wish they hadn’t added India to the title. I felt our fans in Pakistan and Bangladesh might feel bad.
You don’t grudge Chak De.. to Shah Rukh Khan?
Not at all. I refused the film and he signed it so it’s fair. I had refused Baazigar as well. When Abbas-Mustan came to me with the script, I asked my dad for his inputs. He felt that since it’s a story of a negative character they should add an angle of the mother in it.
They didn’t agree. When I turned down the film, they went to Shah Rukh and then they added the mother angle! (Laughs) But I don’t regret it at all. Just imagine, if I had done Baazigar then there would be no Mannat standing in Bandstand today. I’m very happy for Shah Rukh and his success.
How do you view Saawariya’s clash with SRK’s Om Shanti Om?
I’ve a small part in Om Shanti Om so in a way it’s my film too. There is no competition between Shah Rukh and me. I hope both the films do verywell.
The way I see it, if an actor doesn’t do well, 10,000 families are affected. It’s a massive food chain of producer, director, writer, distributor, exhibitor, people who supply popcorn at cinema halls and also the audience. The entire network originates from a star who sells.
Twisting the truth to make the story more interesting is not only disgusting and immoral its against the law (it is called slander and its liable).
I think that people are so narrow minded and full of nonsense, that they don’t think before they talk. They should all get a life and find fault in themselves before throwing stones at others, and those people with dirty tongue they should take a bath. also why??? people always has to pitt each other against the other, you all need to grow up.
Srk is a fine actor and has God in him and Salman is a fine actor and the same goes for him, the Bachans and the other clans they are the jealous ones, as for Sanjay leela Bhansali, he is the one who said that he has worked with the finest actor and Saawariya is the best movie of all he made, then the movie has 2 new nice stars and beautiful music but there was no sense in the movie, he also wasted away 2 good stars and that is Rani and Salman, so that is why people dont like the movie too much. Srk movie made it and will always make it. As for Manaj Kumar I had likee him o lot, but he is too petty and ignorant.

As regards to L. Bhansali, what I beleived that he is the one who started comparing his film with OSO, I saw some of his interview on the television saying that people has fedup seeing aged herioes, surely he was pointing shahrukh khan. In addition, he is the one who was comparing his film with OSO not shahrukh. Actually, this guy has mad due to Saawariya has been neglected by the people and OSO has declared Block Buster World Wide. As far as Manoj Kumar comments is concerned, I truly support Mr. Manoj kumar if Shahrukh and anyone make a fun a legend he should be apoligized to him which Shahrukh has done it. But what I beleived that Shahrukh and Farah should visit to Manoj’s home personally and say sorry to him. Because, they made a mistake, this is the reemedy. As far as Salman Khan is concerned, he is a good friend of Shah Rukh, if he says that if he had done Baazigar then there would be no Mannat. If this is true that I suggest Shah Rukh to be careful with Salman. Because, this type of comments only you can expect from enemise not from friends.

Well, whatever Salman said, he was being a little too conceited. Shahrukh can act, there’s no doubt. Okay Aamir dropped DARR, Salman dropped BAAZIGAR, what about critically appreciated movies that might have not done so well, but Shahrukhs performance was brillian, KABHI HAA KHABHI NAA? YES BOSS? He’s a true entertainer no doubt. Funny Sanjay Leela did say taht Salman was a better actor than Shahrukh on Coffee with Karan. They’re both good actors, but when it comes to negativity Shahrukh’s best performances were in DARR & BAAZIGAR. I personally believe that Shahrukh’s best performance was DARR, even beter than Sunny Deol! I don’t believe that Salman didnt like the story of Chak de, that’s bullshit becaue, he has done so many stupid movies, like SAAWAN? What the hell is that, and what about HAR DIL JO PYAR KAREGA? and some other stupid movies? Which have no story line what so ever. Again I have to agree with Allahhafiz again, SRK IS really good, but still over rated, he has Yash Raj and Karan Johar, who ever will work with them, they will be successful! Akshay khanna is probably good in just about every movie, he can do comedy and serious roles, Saif in Omkara, Ajay in APHARAN and OMKARA, can shahrukh do that? No he’s just always doing dance numbers and mushy mushy movies…None of these actors done what saif did in being cyrus, okay movie was slow, but he did a good job. Everyone keeps beating the srk DRUm and misses out on the other good actors. sHIT I can give a thousand examples taht SRK hasn’t done or won’t do ever! what Ajay did in company and vivek oberoi did. AND Veer Zara was good because the CINEMATOGRAPHR is manmohan singh for YAsh raj movies and he covers Punjab scenes well…so thanks to him and yash chopra, not SRK!
