Veteran Indian actor Manoj Kumar has been hurt by Shah Rukh Khan and feels that his soul has been injured. Talking to India Times, the Indian icon said, “I am hurt. Shah Rukh Khan has injured my soul. It’s a conspiracy to humiliate and ridicule me. This is not filmmaking… My devotion to filmdom for the last 50 years has been insulted.” Manoj Kumar is referring to a comedic scene in Om Shanti Om where a younge double of him is beaten by police.
“Are the Mumbai police so stupid that they can’t recognise Manoj Kumar and lathicharge him in the ’70s when he was a star? It doesn’t stop there. Inside the theatre too, the scene continues in the same vein. At another place where Shah Rukh is shown giving a mock thank-you speech in a drunken state, he says he is Manoj Kumar…,” Manoj Kumar continues.
“If it was for humour it was okay, but to do it like this showed bad taste,” he added. “A junior artist told me he had played my double. About two months back when I met Farah Khan I told her that if she had asked me I would have gladly appeared in the film. But she said it was only a double to portray him in ’70s scene for a film premiere. She was very respectful. She also said I looked lean and fit. I told her I was exercising. I even spoke to her husband.”
Manoj Kumar has won two Filmfare Awards and most famous for his patriotic flicks, such as Kranti and Purab Aur Paschim. His Filmfare awards were for Beimaan (Best Actor) and Roti, Kapda Aur Makaan (Best Director) in 1972 and 1974 respectively.
Finishing of the interview, Manoj stated that although he has never celebrated a silver, gold, or diamond jubilee, he is not a man to keep quiet when someone is hitting below the belt. He also made it clear that he will sue Shah Rukh Khan for a clear-cut defamation and deliverate attempt of humiliation. “I am a peace-loving man. I don’t like goondaism otherwise by now the film’s banners and posters would have been torn,” he said.
UPDATE: Shah Rukh Khan has apologised to Manoj Kumar. Today, after reading our article and other reports, Shah Rukh said, “I told him that I am extremely sorry for hurting your sentiments,” Shah Rukh told mediapersons. “There was no intention to hurt anyone and as a producer of my film, Om Shanti Om, I overlooked this issue. I also apologised on behalf of my director, Farah Khan. I told him that I should have invited you to watch the movie and I am sorry I didn’t.”

I read some interviews of farah and her brother sajid,saying that OSO is the biggest hit of indian cinema and saawariya is a big flop!Well Sajid,just making one movie with a superstar like Akshay and claiming it be YOUR hit(everyone knows it was a hit cause of Akshay!)doesnt make you a big film maker.And as far as farah is concerned,Anyone can make a movie with SRK and it will be a hit,if you have guts go and make with some person who is not a star,and then give such comments or interviews!Sanjay leela bhansali has proved himself time and again,he had the guts to cast ASh in the central role when the whole world said she canht act!he had the guts to make a songless movie like Black,and now,he has the guts to cast 2 newcomers!And farah just cause you have SRK in your film doesnt make your film a masterpiece.

Look, I can understand that Mr. Kumar would not like to made fun of. It is understandable. However, I think it is unfair that he should take it out on SRK. I mean, SRK did what the script told him. Maany, watch all of SRK’s movies. You will find that even before Devdas, he had tons of movies that had him playing different roles. As for SLB, So far his movies have done nothing impressive. Devdas was a hit not because of Ashwarya Rai, but because it was an amazing story. Black was a copy of the ‘Miracle Worker.’In fact, that movie was degrading to women. I mean, the lead in the English version was a woman, why did not cast a woman in his version as well? And as for Sawariya, well, the people have spoken. They don’t like it and in the end, it is them who decide it. Not the actors or the producers.

It is just a movie with a pure intention of entertaining people. As an actor, Manoj ji must have taken it in the right sense. Being a superstar as SRK is doesn’t give him or anyone else the right to imitate or portray another artist in a way that will disrespect that person or make fun of that person. SRK has the habit of getting carried away with his humour and ‘king of all’ attitude that he forget people’s sentiments. I’ve seen him do this at concerts in Canada. Taking his actions in good spirit is fine once, even twice but once too often does it - ’stop it SRK’ - before it becomes a reason for your defame.
Same Jaye respects all actors whether they are superstars or not. In the same token, I am a fan of SRK but would never put another star down to prove that. Everyone is unique and has their place and nobody can replace anyone.

Manoj Kumar a living legend of Indian movies, he made wonderful patriotic films for India. For such a great stalwarts shahrukh khan and farah khan plays a spoof for him in their recent movie, they should be condemed for such a silly act, although Manoj Kumar “Bharat kumar” is so magnenimous that he forgive such rascal thing, but these people are so brutal that they not ready to cut that scene of the movie, that is unnecessary and image spoiling scene of such a great actor. shahrukh you are a good actor but does it mean that you can make spoof of anybody, imagine after 25 years just like you some actor will come and make fun of your acting and your work what will be in your heart that time. so be sensible and not play with anybodies sentiments otherwise we would not like to see your movies.
