Om Shanti Om is breaking records all around the globe, and Australia no exception.

The film has opened at number 9 in the Australian Box Office charts, with the highest per screen average for an Indian movie ever. The per screen average, which stands at $14,073, was nearly $10,000 more than the next best per screen performing film. The Shah Rukh Khan comedy drama made a total of $168,874, being screened on only 12 screens.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya is being shown on 5 screens more than Om Shanti Om, but it fared much less. Total collections of $94,339 with a per screen average of $5,549, the second highest of the weekend. It opened 7 places below Om Shanti Om, at number 16.
