UK BOX OFFICE SPECIAL: OM SHANTI OM BREAKS RECORDS

As predicted in our Box Office report from Saturday afternoon [click here], Om Shanti Om and Saawariya have entered the UK Box Office charts at EXACTLY those positions.
In that article it was written, “We here at RS predict that Om Shanti Om will enter the charts at number 7. For Saawariya our expectations are number 12.” And would you believe it… that is EXACTLY what happened.
Shah Rukh Khan’s comedy spoof Om Shanti Om has made a massive £518,845 (US $1,068,866 – INR 42,085,306) while Saawariya gets a reasonable £160,985 (US $331,632 – INR 13,058,048). The per screen average for Om Shanti Om came to £9977.79, which was the best average of the weekend. Saawariya’s per screen average was £3499.63. Eros Entertainment’s Om Shanti Om is being shown on 52 screens, 6 more than the Sony Pictures release Saawariya, 46.
In a closely faught battle with three multiple Oscar winners, Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, and Meryl Streep… Shah Rukh Khan lost out… but only just. The political thriller Lions For Lambs accumulated £658,282. However, Om Shanti Om is expected to make more money in the long run than this flick.

In another major scoop prediction for RS [click here], where we wrote that Om Shanti Om would surpass Chak De India’s TOTAL UK collections within days, that is EXACTLY what happened. Chak De India made £416,917 (US $867,265 – INR 34,094,355) in the UK. And, as you have just read, Om Shanti Om has gone way past that mark too.
Not only that… The highest grossing Bollywood movie in the UK this year is Namastey London, with total collections of £830,851 (US $1,728,616 – INR 67,956,216). We predicted [click here] that Om Shanti Om would take this title too within 2 weeks of release… well it now seems that Om Shanti Om could do it within 7 days. And what an achievment that will be…
The current Top 10 grossing Bollywood films in the UK are as below:

However, Om Shanti Om was not able to be the Highest EVER Bollywood opener in the UK. That record stays with Karan Johar’s 2006 release Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, which opened to a massive £749,243 and a sensational screen average of £12,487. But it did open more successfully than Veer Zaara, and took it’s number two slot.
So now you know, you have the proof in front of you… RS is the website to come to… when it comes to proper to-the-point news. Lets not forget this movie had the advantage of being released during the diwali weekend. Its certainly not a better film than Namastey London!

Shah Rukh Khan is an intelligent yet humble, uncanny individual who is way ahead of his league of collegues.
He reads the audiances much better than anyone else. He is not limited as an angry young man or an action hero, or a tragedy king, or any type cast ever.
He out smarts the established stars and established directors, with his reading of the audiances reaction and then he acts and packs a punch.
Not the best actor by any means, but the most complete entertainer, by a long margin.
Shah Rukh Khan you have made Delhi, my generation and India proud.
SRK rules no doubt n cherzzz 2 dat as well .. but still … aint der ny1 who things dat da whole movie cud hav been made beter dan dis .. 4 which i wud say farah should hav taken better advices.. n also 2 cum down at zero level 2 work 2 .. coz .. wid only 1 movie success .. u jst cant say dat wateva u do wud b ryt … its SRK 4 whom ppl actually lykd dat main ho na … n wud also make dis a big hit as well …. INSHALLAH … nwaz betta luck nxt time .. ! ! ! …. BUT SRK RULES ALL DA WAY ….
The King Shahrukh Khan has indeed done a marvelous work in OM SHANTI OM of course not forgetting the new Debutante-Deepika who really showed very promising dancing skills.She indeed reminded me of none other but the Legend of dancing Helen.Only people with disciminatory feelings will say otherwise.

OSO has already made over $35 million dollars worl wide in 14 days..it is one of the best I have ever seen. The world has accepted this one as blockbuster…I saw Sawarya the other day –honestly walked out …SLB should be a painter that way he wont waste our hard earned dollars on bad cinema
