Powerhouse Hollywood producers Sony Pictures are expecting huge losses on their big Bollywood adventure, as Saawariya slides towards flop-town.
The film, in which Sony have invested over £10m (800 million rupees), is not expected to return much more than 10-12 crores in India in it’s first week, that is just over £1.5m. Overseas, the film is also struggling, and expectations are bleak. The best it can hope for is no more than 3-4 crores (£0.5m). That brings the total returns for the first week to £2m, still a defecit of £8m.
Sony Pictures also distributed the movie themselves, and even the music rights were given to a sister company. So this means that no matter what happens in the weeks to come, Sony Pictures are going to loose mega bucks.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali was given a massive budget, which showed on screen, but because of the lack of a solid script… the end is gonna be RED
