Mani Ratnam’s next film, the much toutes Guru, has had it’s release date put back to 12th January 2007.
The film was expected to release 3 days before Christmas day, on 22nd December 2006, however post production delays have meant that the film will not be ready for release for that date.
The film is Mani Ratnam’s second with talented actor Abhishek Bachchan, and also features R Madhavan, Mithun Chakroborty, and Vidya Balan. Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai is playing the main female lead role.
A publicist from Ratnam’s camp confirmed the new release date to. “The release of the film has been postponed because the post production work is still in progress,” he said.
It was reported last week that Priyadarshan’s comedy Bhagam Bhag, which stars Govinda, Lara Dutta, and Akshay Kumar, was also not going to be released on 22nd December. This now makes the week prior to Christmas release-less, opening up a window for some other producer to move there film release either up or ahead.
Which film would you like to see this Christmas week, now that both big releases have been postponed? Would you like either Baabul or Dhoom 2 to move to 22nd December? Or would you prefer the Arjun Rampal vehicle I See You?

I would rather see Baabul shifted to 22.12.06. A 10 day holiday period would definitely do lots to make lots of money in the international market.
