Composer Anu Malik tunes in to the latest in Bollywood and airs a few grievances with Shridevi Keshavan
MUMBAI: While there is a lot of excitement surrounding ‘Om Shanti Om’ and the music, there’s one person who is not so taken in by the hype. Anu Malik who composed for Farah Khan’s directorial debut ‘Main Hoon Na’ seems slightly miffed about not being included in the project.
“You should be asking her why I am not a part of ‘Om Shanti Om’. I think someone did ask her and she said “I see Anu a lot on the sets of ‘Indian Idol’ and so I needed a break.” But I don’t think that’s funny. Besides she knows that what I did in ‘Main Hoon Na’ was exemplary,” says Anu, adding that he hopes that the film does well because he is a ‘well-wisher of Shahrukh’.
“I have no comments on the music but I genuinely hope the movie does well, because Shahrukh and I have bonded right from the days of ‘Baazigar’ to ‘Main Hoon Na’,” says Anu who is also doing three other films starring Mallika Sherawat who sizziled to his tunes in ‘Murder’.
“There’s definitely something unique as far as the music of ‘Murder’ is considered and I hope the other films that I’m doing with Mallika also click. We are very cordial when we meet and once in a while she calls me to chat,” he adds.
However, he is on a high these days with a couple of films lined up and a new Diwali song that he has come up with. “It’s got little bit of dhol and Spanish touch to it which makes it contemporary, but at the same time keeps the traditional flavour alive,” he says.
For Anu, all the hullabaloo about reality shows, ends at the fact that they provide a platform for young musicians “I think it’s great and I stand by it,” he signs off.
