‘The Jewellery Box’ didn’t materialise, but Govinda is still kicked with idea of doing a film with Aparna Sen. The comic actor says he is very keen to do a Hindi version of her award winning film ‘Mr & Mrs Iyer’.
“The idea of doing the film has been put on hold. Aparnaji feels that role won’t do justice to me. But we both would love to work together,” Govinda said about ‘The Jewellery Box’.
“I’d love to do a Hindi version of Aparnaji’s ‘Mr & Mrs Iyer’. I even have the entire plot in my mind. Now Aparnaji needs to take a call.”
Starring Rahul Bose and Konkona Sen Sharma, the English film bagged best feature film award at the Hawaii International Film Festival and the Netpac award at Locarno Film Festival. Sen walked away with National Award for direction.
Post ‘Partner’, and the glowing reviews it got him, Govinda says he is looking at several projects simultaneously.
“I’ve been offered 12-13 scripts but none of them grabs me immediately. At this stage in my career I’ve to be fully enthusiastic about my work. ‘Partner’ with my old friend David Dhawan is out. I can only thank him and Salman-bhai (Salman Khan) for working with me at a time when I was down and out. Of course, after ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’, my career has improved. But there’s a long way to go before I am back on my feet.”
