While film maker Raj Kumar Santoshi is aware of the challenges that he is going to face during the making of Ashoka, yet he is keen on making his movie different from the one earlier made by Santosh Sivan.
Says Santoshi, “I’m aware of Sivan’s film. He’s a fine craftsman. But my approach and treatment to this fascinating subject will be very different.
My Ashoka will open during the Battle Of Kalinga and move forward into the Emperor’s life and also recreate events pre-Kalinga through flashbacks. Ajay Devgan will stand out as a performer with his portrayal.”
