Its official — Eklavya, The Royal Guard, will be India’s entry to the Oscars. An affidavit filed by the Film Federation of India (FFI) before the Bombay High Court on Wednesday states that the jury committee that selected Eklavya… has been dissolved and thus the decision cannot be changed.

Chairman of FFI, Vinod Pandey had written a letter to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences seeking time to take a decision on the entry to the Oscars. On October 11, the Academy asked them to decide by Wednesday.
The court will continue to hear on Thursday. The HC had earlier made it clear that there was prima facie merit in the petition and thus any benefit or consequence the movie receives at the Oscars would be subject to court orders.
