Sonam Kapoor may be the talk of the town because of ‘Saawariya’, but there is more to this chick that just debuting with a big banner film.
Sonam apparently loves dancing and has been training for Latin American dances since past five months. Though we’re guessing that there’s no such skill required for her (dupatta clad, coy) character in the film, the lady seems to have completely dedicated herself into learning the art.
Says Sandip Soparrkar who already terms her as one of his most sincere students, “Sonam trains with me twice a week and I have to say that she is working really hard to master the dance forms. Considering that she was completely new to Latin-American dances, her body language has improved tremendously since she joined.”
Sonam who has been training for samba, cha cha cha, rumba and salsa, in fact did not even sideline her sessions with Sandip when she was neck deep in the shooting of ‘Saawariya’. Adds Sandip, “She was worried about every single move that goes into the dances and practiced over and over again till she got it right. She even purchased the special dancing shoes for Latin-American dances to gain precision.”
Incidentally it was Sonam’s mother Sunita Kapoor who introduced Sonam to Sandip and she has been on the roll since then. “I want to start as soon as possible and I would like to train with your instructor if you are tied up,” Sandip remembers her saying, when he was out of town.
The buzz goes that Sonam who has also trained in Indian classical dance earlier was a little apprehensive about dancing on screen and so wanted to be absolutely comfortable with her body. Well, with all that work put in, looks like this girl is surely here to stay, for good!
