Now, TRPs to go filmy. TV channels are these days busy tying up with the soon-to-be-released movies to boost up their TRPs. So, what Sooraj Barjataya’s Vivah can do to Sony, is what Mukhbir can do for Zee News. Yes! even the news channels are not far behind. Actually, the trend of promoting a movie on a TV channel was the brain-child of these so-called news channels. Recently, NDTV tied up with Don, while, CNN-IBN promoted Jaaneman and now Casino Royale, the latest movie in the Bond series.
Once the deal is sealed between the latest flicks and the channels, what we witness is an array of promotional campaigning done for a particular movie by the channels. It’s exclusive for sure! But how much do they believe in the potential of that movie? Who cares when you are pulling in viewers and floating in the SMSs pooled out of their pockets.
Film directors consider mass media as a vehicle for promoting their “product”as they have a mass appeal. And why not, news channels are 24* 7 and news cant fill up dat time daily. So, send me your opinion whether u approve of such a tradition being continues or news channels should stick to their job. Man! I thought media has a missionary zeal. Someone has to wake me up!
