The multi-starrer romantic flick Salaam-E-Ishq will release on a Thursday and not a Friday, according to the film’s director Nikhil Advani.
“Salaam-E-Ishq will release on Thursday January 25 as I want to give my movie a long Republic Day weekend. It is better to start from Thursday so we’ll have a four-day weekend for the film to find its level. Interestingly my first movie Kal Ho Na Ho had also been released on a Thursday. That was to cash in on the Eid weekend. Our Bollywood industry really requires to get out of the Friday-to-Friday mind-set” says Nikhil.
The film stars Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Akshaye Khanna, John Abraham, Govinda, Sohail Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Juhi Chawla, Ayesha Takia, Vidya Balan, Shannon Esrechowitz and Ishaa Koppikar.
The film has been slated for release on Thursday 25th January 2007. Akshay Kumar starrer Garam Masala and Salman Khan’s Kyon Ki? both were commercially well received after releasing on Thursdays.
But what do you make of this release date change. Will you be going to see the film on Thursday? Does the extra day of release effect the overall business and performance of a film?
