EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI

It’s Breaking News - Sounds like a subject that director Madhur Bhandarkar would have loved to make a movie on. Likewise, it is director Vishal Inamdar who manages to present a honest but lengthy insight into the aspect of sensationalism in TV media journalism.

The film caters to many points which add up to the overall storyline, but on the whole it caters to a small section of moviegoers due to lack of publicity and tight screenplay.

It’s Breaking News tries to bring out the harsh reality behind the working of a TV channel. Cooking up stories, exploiting personal lives, playing with business ethics are all part and parcel of the game in order to garner maximum TRPs.

The film uses sting operations as it’s primary theme to explore the realities of channel heads, who keep hunting for exciting news material. Moreover, they don’t mind being the initiator of such events.

The glossless storyline of ‘It’s Breaking News’ describes the realistic cinema from the eyes from Vidya (Koel Purie). Vidya is an active and on the foot kind of reporter. After being forced to quit the entertainment coverage, Vidya is allotted the job of covering crime.

Slowly, she starts believing in her new task and enjoys the thrill involved in covering crime and related issues. With sting operations taking place in every knack of the journalism, Vidya too gets her chance but falls to a manipulated system.
